Based on the prolog, I can see why the Emperor didn't trust MC. The guy had royal blood and was absurdly strong compared to everyone else. A master can barely cover a knife in aura but he can spam a whole spear. He also has a history of keeping his head low until he gathers strength. If he got even a little support, he could take over in minutes.

I get the point tho. Even in real life stories, many kings slaughter their right hand after their kingdom achieves victory because of fear of being overthrown by power that brings their kingdom to glory based on a hunch . But it is still not justified those kings act.. Tbf, imagine being in the MC position, willingly dying for the king but suddenly getting stabbed in the back without any trial or proof, just negative assumptions. You even ask "why", since you never went against his will.. A reckless act by the king to quell the power that brings glory to his kingdom and can still protect it for more decades.
