Honestly, this film blew me away. Not only was the cinematography absolutely gorgeous to watch, but the story itself was compelling and the characters were so beautifully acted. This movie had an honesty to it that a lot of Hollywood films have been lacking in recent years. I loved watching it and haven't been able to stop thinking about it since I saw it. Highly, highly recommend.

I watched it last week. As a longtime obsesser of dragons for over 15 years now, I knew I had to see this, and it turned out to be the BEST dragon movie that I have ever seen. My other favorite dragon movie is Reign of Fire. But for I Am Dragon, the whole story is so beautiful and simply breathtaking. It's now one of my favorite movies, and one that I will always treasure. I highly recommend it for dragon lovers. 10/10

I want to learn Russian just so I can enjoy this movie without the horrible English dub, and/or English subtitles. This movie was probably one of the only supernatural love story’s that I enjoyed watching. The storyline was amazing, not cheesy at all, it felt like a true romance, nothing forced. I absolutely loved it, and this video with its beautiful edits does the movie justice!

Not quite! Russian Russian version of your Western story "Beauty and the beast" is a fairy tale by Russian writer Sergey Aksakov "Scarlet flower". Based on this tale in the middle of the last century, filmed at "Souzmultfilm" cartoon of the same name. It's wonderful and you can see it. There is also a feature film shot in the USSR in the 80 - ies of the last century, but I do not remember its name.

True, as Ирина Усанова said. It is the Scarlet Flower meets all the Russian Dragon Folklore (there's no way they could market it like that though, hence the "Beauty and the Beast meets GOT" line). Western world just assumes it is Beauty and the Beast because it is so well-known thanks to Disney. But in Russia, it was always "The Scarlet Flower". First published in mid 19th century I believe

It's just that the advertising campaign was not up to par. People thought it was another attempt to imitate Hollywood and nothing more. I didn't discover this movie right away either. I didn't want to look at first. then I decided for some reason. And I didn't regret it. I have watched this movie many times and it was liked by everyone to whom I recommended it. And someone just fell in love with it.

I too love this movie & it makes me want to learn Russian. It also started me on Russian movies. I now own approximately 7 - the cinematography, the costumes, flowing words, powerful stories-Its made me a fan of modern Russian Cinema. I wish there were more easy to find Russian movies. BTW...the child's babysitter at the end-can anyone tell me what kind of creature it is ? Id like to find out more about them in Russian Folk & Fairly Tales. Thank You.

It's a newfangled fantasy. In Russian fairy tales was only a dragon-dragon (Slavic dragon). A dragon with three heads who stole princesses. Princesses then then rescued the hero.

I think the animal is a lemur or katta, a kind of ape that only lives on the island Madagascar. It was probably on some ship that shipwrecked around the island of the dragon - they are still hunted and sold illegally (well during those times it wasn't illegal).
