The story itself is kind of stupid, he didn't kill the princess once he found out about her manipulations and then he didn't kill her or the king once he realized they had cursed the entire group despite having a stealth skill that only the now dead commander could see through. It would've been extremely simple to either cut their heads off or run to the princess' room and destroy the rest of the crystals.

He didn't know that she had like 100 more and where she stored them. And killing royalty is questionable, since you don't know what consequences that would have on the kingdom. He also doesn't understand how mind control and the crystal work.

He did not know about the other crystals.. But besides that if he harmed/killed her then it would have made him a even bigger target. No one would have been on his side. He needed to find a way to expose her and what she was doing but it would be a tricky thing, not something you can just go "Hey guys she is doing X" it just does not work that way. That is like kids logic in terms of thinking all someone needs to do is say someone is doing something without proof.. and even then especially considering its a princess.. You need hard proof that can not be denied at all. Something he did not have.

I used to read the light novel and it was a favorite of mine for a while really excited for this video

Protag is inept. Princess and king are right next to him, gloating about their crimes. The Princess is literally close enough to whisper in his ear and he can easily evade the royal guard, so does he kill the princess or the king and then escape? Nope, he runs away and vows to one day get close enough to get his revenge. The only person who could see through his stealth is dead, so he could kill them any time he wants. The author made him so OP that the rest of the story has no reason to happen.

If he ends the royal family without proof of their misdeeds, and I mean proof that effectively can’t be misread in that world, then the royal family can very likely be seen as martyrs. They could also very easily be pawns playing as bigger chess pieces, a small part to a far larger issue. Though the royal family is horrible on multiple levels, without their existence and support, the rest of the heroes would be destitute and seen as useless without the royal family still alive - what use are the heroes of the royal family still died when they were there, or will those loyal to the crown see them as the cause of their deaths? Definitely a fun idea for the story, but the writer goes on their own path and we simply get to enjoy the journey as it is set. The machinations can be as intricate or as silly as the writer pleases. I agree, though, that Akira could end the royal line immediately with practically no resistance if he so chooses. I only imagine there are some reasons why he chooses not to, within universe. Let’s see how this pans out.

He said not killing the King just because he didn't understand what the King was after was his biggest regret. As for the Princess, he had no way of knowing what would happen to his classmates if he killed her. For all he knows they're also cursed to die if she does, or go berserk, or any number of things. I also think that he wasn't the very clearly at the time he escaped. Plus there's no telling what kind of traps there could be after revealing himself to the Princess.
