Every single time you see Guthrie Govan you will be ameze of how creative he is

he's entirely unreal.

The most amazing thing isn't how well he plays but the fact that all those solos and fillings are IMPROVISED. If you are curious just pick a song of his and listen to several recordings thereof. He is truly mind blowing.

Great Analysis. I get fed up of some idiots who classify Guthrie as being 'Just a shredder' or not playing with emotion or feel. I wish that people could appreciate that you can convey these emotions outside of a BB King solo !!
@rwesleyslaven Жыл бұрын
They must not know shredding because he’s adding accents to over half the notes and there has to be space to do that 🤷

The way Guthrie masterfully bends and slides between notes is in fact very similar to what many sitar players do. In my opinion Guthrie is easily the best and most versatile electric guitar player on the planet. I suppose that makes him the top 0.0000000001% lol. He also studied English literature. lol

He definitely has the most diverse bag of tricks of any of the "masters"

When you say "it reminds me of video games" that is a dead giveaway that you don't listen to a ton of instrumental music.
@rwesleyslaven Жыл бұрын
You aren’t wrong, but I’m more referring to the mood of the song than the actual sounds. I used to be into Satch, Vai, and Jason Becker. Haven’t kept with many of the newer folks

@@rwesleyslaven So I've been listening to this new Kaipa album (sick album) and there is this progression or maybe chord change that reminds me of Ninja Gaiden. Kaipa is a Sweedish Prog Rock band that's been around since like 1975, but they have Per Nihilsson from Scar Symmetry in the band now. I was never big on Scar Symmetry, but recently I decided to revisit some of their stuff, and I've already recognized the Ninja Gaiden progression being used in their music. hahaha

@@ShredHeadJHJ it’s kinda wild how that goes but it’s bc there are certain moods they convey in video games and then you hear them again and it relates lol
