I believe he’s referring to what the copper said at the end when waiving the fines; in appreciation of the rider’s politeness; and readily stopping when pulled over. After all ur right, it does make no sense for the cop to say “I’m going to reward you not speeding off.. by not giving you the tickets u definitely would’ve gotten if you had…” hardly an achievement lol

I don’t bloody get it. If you have nothing to hide and it’s simple be compliant and not an ass. It is more likely than not that the police will treat you better. A very much ex friend of mine said to me, “you know when police ask you, “do you know why I am pulling you over?” I said no. Because I don’t get into any trouble. I’ve only had one small town cop on a power trip be a …… to me and he couldn’t even write me a warning. I just make sure to not go more than 14mph over the speed limit on the highway. All I’ve dealt with is some arse whole state trooper about rear end me and make me panic trying to get in the right lane on the highway…very illegal on his end. Mine for speeding, but he was wreckless driving for no reason and I had a truck right next to me…so messed up.

@Rattlsnke I always advocate for good behavior when getting pulled over, but I drive between cities often and one of them, if you're pulled over for any reason, you will get a ticket. It's just a rule people acknowledge, so you get a lot of videos of drivers making a scene because there's nothing more than what's already going to happen.

Gotta disagree (to a point because it's very different in some places around the country), this is not unique, this is the norm. Primarily amongst State Police. This is RISP. They are a rare bunch and if you meet one in traffic that means you screwed up. I know, I lived there for 20 years. I used to travel the country as a Journeyman and got pulled over a few times: I would rather get pulled over by SP than any local Dpt. (Except for the Sherif in Gwinette Cnty GA who said a Trooper would have locked me up.) My Dad was a 35 yr vet of NYSP. He was a family man first: treated everyone with all the respect anyone deserves, but it was up to them to maintain that respect.

It did. I took Law Class in high-school, teacher was a retired officer. He told us that 99% of incidents, people lie, run, evade, just make trouble for the officers on scene. So, when you show them respect like this and obey their authority, they, in turn, give respect back. Long story ahead. I bought a car from my uncle, there were two plates in the back and he wasn't sure which went to the car, and so to not attract immediate attention, I just chose one of the plates and slapped it on. It was not the right one lol. Got stopped and the cops assumed it was a stolen vehicle as that's a common trope of vehicle theft, swapping a plate.. Anyway, I was extremely respectful as were my 2 companions. Turns out, I had 3 warrants. Nothing extreme, just unpaid fines I forgot about. So, I get cuffed and I'm sitting on the curb, one officer is standing over me just making sure I stayed put. One of my companions was in the back of one of the officers SUVs while being questioned. I tell the officer guarding me, "man, this is really gonna screw over my guys at work." I worked on a water well drilling rig. The officer asked what I did for work. I told him. He goes "Oh really?! My uncle does that too. Who do you work for?" I told him, and I was actually able to name his uncle just by hearing where he was located and the color of his drilling rig. The officer goes, "sit tight for me, ok, bud?" He goes to the SUV where my friend still was and the other officer was. He reported the conversation as such: "That guy works on a drilling rig, doesn't wanna leave his guys hanging tomorrow." And he's writing information on a note card. Other officer: "Well you're still gonna book him, right?" And according to my friend, the officer goes "No lol" as a laugh and a response. He comes back, tells me to stand up and turn around, I'm guessing he's gonna pat me down one last time before I'm in the back of his squad car. Nope. He was uncuffing me. He goes, "You've been so respectful during this entire ordeal, and I understand how it can be when you're a man down on such a physically laborious job." Hands me the note card and tells me there's all my warrants informations, and a phone number to call to either set up payments or hear when open court is so I could get the warrants quashed and payment plans established. I couldn't believe it... We put the correct plate on the car since I always carried a multi-tool and it had a phillips head attachment, and it was the one we DIDNT put on originally which was actually the right one. I tell them thank you, they thanked us too, primarily me as I was entirely cooperative and very respectful. Amazing incident. I know, long story. But I wanted to share my awesome experience with Phoenix PD. It was incredible that I didn't get booked and processed that night. This was also before the mandatory body cams were a thing, and cops could still make calls like this. If you read this far, thank you, and God Bless. If you have any tales of cops being cool, please share in the replies. I'd love to read them.

A downside to this kind of thing is that when people see one person let go with a warning, they then feel like they should automatically be let go if they are stopped for an offense as well, regardless of the conditions that surround their traffic stop. It's the kind of thing that leads people to feel like some people are unfairly treated. Additionally, if this young guy left the traffic stop and resumed speeding and acting a fool and it resulted in an accident that injured him or someone else, and then this video was released, the cop could be in trouble and the city sued, with a claim being made that if he had not released the guy without taking any action on the multiple offenses, then it could have prevented the actions that lead to the accident and injury.

Exactly don't do anything to get pulled over for and magically cops don't pull you over. I don't know where people get off feeling so entitled to get away with doing $500 worth of tickets. Smh

@@udttdujgx well instead of saying cops are entitled because they do their job (most of the time because nobody is saying there aren't bad cops) you could look at all the comments saying this cop is only human because he let this guy get away with $500 worth of tickets! Now who sounds more entitled? I'd say the people saying your not human unless you let me get away with doing shit I know I'm not supposed to do over people who have to turn off body cams and hide what they are doing anyday. Besides everyone knows if someone broke into your house or hurt a family member or even stole your car you would call that "criminal gang" to come and sort shit out for you because you know that's what most cops will do.

By the tone of his accent in the state trooper vehicle you can clearly tell he is a Rhode Island State Trooper. He showed the true Rhody attitude. He is a fair man.

good man. That's a police officer, not a cop. There is a difference.
