As an Eastern European, no... absolutely not... We don't do drones, we pay bribes IF (big IF) there is corruption. Westerners always think of complicated operations like in their spy films. Here, it's a guy giving a ref a call: "Hey, I'll give you money if you give us a penalty." Why bother with that tech crap? We're old school here, none of that fancy Western corruption with offshore accounts in the Caymans. Over here it's a bag (one of those plastic bags you get when shopping at the supermarket) full of cash. If he did it, he learned it in the West, not here. We like our corruption simple and to the point, thank you very much. 😀

As a Canadian (from Quebec and thus a CF Montreal fan), I'm happy Herdman looks dumb. As a manager for Canada, I always thought he was just a hypeman, which in the end turned out to be right (see World Cup and current TFC stint). He's also the guy who was the women's coach before the current kinda fired coach, so I would not be surprised if he was at the center and start of that canadian drone thing

I’d liken Canada at the word cup to Burnley 2023/24: both played beautiful football, but were let down by players not good enough compared to the competition. Don’t forget we got knocked out by the 3rd ranked side at the time (I think), the third place team and the fourth place team. That’s a really tough group

You should see how they behave in war... they're not nice. I mean, Geneva-Convention-is-open-to-interpretation levels of not nice. Just ask WW1 Germany. When I think of Canada, I think of William Grant Stairs. His adventures in Africa were a gleeful unhinged genocidal roadtrip. His journal is absolutely insane. Way more likely than not that if they were still doing it at Copa that Jesse knew about it. Lower assistants and staffers are doing it behind his back, against his wishes, and holding secret meetings with the rest of the coaches/possibly players in a way that is highly actionable on the pitch, and he doesn't know anything? I just can't see it. I hope he isn't involved, but its the simplest version of events by far.

This is the likeliest scenario. He may not have ordered it or started it but it is hard to imagine he wasn't aware of it. The cheating is so systematic that the commands might come from way above. None the less Jesse might not be as innocent as Zealand painted him to be.

As a Canadian, who also played in the Canadian youth system for club and country I can assure. Canada soccer organization is widely know to be very scummy so I was truly not surprised when this broke out. Also never been a fan of Herdman. Nothings ever felt genuine from him.

A lot of people arent mentioning that Priestman is from Herdman's coaching tree and was the Women's youth coach while he was WNT coach so thats how that happened. They both ended up at the top of their respective programs with an absolute level of control over the development levels. Herdman was New Zealand's women's coach before he was ours and they had a significant rise too so you wonder how far back this all goes. Oh and for bonus dumb, WE were the ones who helped write the drone regulations for FIFA into law because of incidents at the 2015 World Cup that we hosted! Oh and I dont think the Marsch thing is a contridiction, I think the "attempt" was them telling him they were going to do it and him shutting it down.

Is there actually a rule against flying drones over closed door trainings? I don't know to me it is not really cheating that much. In the end I don't think you can get that much out of doing this, but I don't know I am not a coach. It doesn't seem to different from analysing match footage anyway. And no offense, but I don't think any team is practicing crazy tactics to play against Canada.

It's not just tactics. You can determine different players' fitness by watching how they are moving and how much they are participating in the practice. You can gain insights into who the starters will be.

And coaches say things all the time that turn out to have been false, why would they give away their plans?
