Lydia's comment about rewatching girlfriends reminds me of something i came across... that people with anxious attachment styles like rewatching shows coz it gives them a sense of ease, coz they know what will happen next in the shows and how it will end

Despite having anxious attachment style and my man having avoidant, we compliment each other in the sense that, we are aware of our traumas and are working towards being better versions of ourselves. Sometimes it doesn't even feel like I am that anxious anymore or him avoidant. Thanks to Lydia and therapist Jeff, we had some of those serious conversations before, and I had my bare minimums....especially emotional security and how he treats me.

My hot take is that men are just naturally worse at sustaining relationships. And I say this as a man who understands how patriarchy can isolate and distance a man from his own emotions. Where women will have close and intimate relationships with other women through out their life, (male friendships are not intimate or vulnerable 9 times out of 10) most men will never experience emotional and intimate relationships outside of their romantic ones. This makes it almost emotionally overwhelming to deal with another human being in this way especially if you weren't in any meaningful relationships prior. (Also why most men have avoidant attachment) This is why a lot of relationships end because the man was being distant and seemingly uninterested a few months down the line; which, in my opinion, is sparked by "burn out" from having to be vulnerable so often, having to look after another person's mental well being, and other stuff that are easy to do when you're in love. But fade after the honeymoon phase where that emotional inexperience starts to show. This can be overcome of course with therapy, self reflection, and a healthy growth mindset (measures I've taken myself) and may be less common than I lead on but I feel is true from my experiences and observations. Keep up the good content, you two are inspiring.

Lol, It’s Lydia realising there are avoidant women 😂 and as a representative of the avoidants, waahh si mlitukujia hii episode, si pole bas 😢 It’s just easier to switch off our emotions and go into robot mode to avoid hurt, it’s self preservation, we are really just scared little kittens on the inside 😅

Very interesting as always. A series on signs you hate / love your man or signs your woman hates/ loves you would be very interesting as well. Based on some of the submissions on this episode and similar past episodes, the bar on what women expect/ require in a relationship is quite low, given that we have been socialised to put everyone else's needs and wants first and our own last and be " nice girls". We get starry eyed at the bare minimum because we are used to substandard treatment. Also red flags are not red flags if they are what's familiar_ word.

Anyway, I think I assumed I was secure because a huge chunk of my dating life I have been I'm relationships where I felt loved. However, I noticed juzi juzi that I ghost people to avoid confrontations. Also, I will avoid any guy who has some qualities I see in my father, who has been present my entire life but is an alcoholic, verbally abusive and never the provider. This test was eye opening! I need therapy now!!!
