H20 is one of the most underrated great shooters in league history. His jumper is aesthetically perfect from his base to his guide hand to his follow through.
@ChristopherWilliams-y7y4 күн бұрын
He influenced my jump shot back in the mid-90s and I nailed 26/45 3's in 18 games. My shot is still slightly similar to his, and Vince Carter, but I'm only 5-7. But the shot is always there even going on 47, but I couldn't compete very well because of age, but in a shooting contest mid-range I still make about 45%-50% which for a shooter is great. That's why MJ mastered his mid-range. But in today's 3-happy NBA...5 threes a game would be feezable, I think his percentage was about 43%, but his knees got bad.

Allan Houston was the arguable 3rd best pure shooter in the league in the early 2000s. Ray was most definitely #1 and Peja was probably the 2nd best but Allan Houston should not be forgotten when talking about early 2000s shooters.

@@NerfgunninjaI mean those players definitely shoot the mid range but it's not their primary shot. They take the mid range when the defense denies the 3, as opposed to 90s and 2000s when scorers would actively seek out the mid range shot, and only take 3s if the defense conceded it or for a heat check.

This was his last full season in the NBA. He got micro fracture surgery which back then was a more risky surgery than today. He rushed back for opening game in the 2003-2004 season which ruined his knee. As a shooter, you rely on your knees to get elevation. He should’ve taken his time and came back healthy in mid season 2003-2004 season. I would’ve loved to see this version of Allan Houston play alongside Stephon Marbury. Stephon Marbury’s only good season in NY was his first one where he took an injury plagued Knicks roster to the playoffs only to be swept by New Jersey. A 02-03 Allan Houston (the one you see in this video) changes the course of the Knicks franchise. I think a healthy Allan Houston puts the Knicks in 5th place in the 04 season instead of 7th and swept in the first round. Following season, Knicks sign Jamal Crawford who plays his natural 6th man position combining with Marbury & Houston. I think the Knicks probably make it as a 7th or 8th seed that year. The 06 season, Knicks don’t waste trading for Steve Francis or Jalen Rose. I think that team makes the 6th seed with Marbury, Houston, Quentin Richardson, Channing Frye, Eddy Curry, Nate Robinson, Jamal Crawford, David Lee. The 07 season, we start seeing a decline due to the knee issues caused by micro fracture for Houston and he moves to the bench. Still a very effective shooter and scorer of the bench behind Crawford and I think they make the 7th seed. 08 season probably the worst as the team has some aging stars like Marbury who starts to decline and Houston’s knee gives out more in this season. I think they miss the playoffs. 09 season, contracts expire and the team wins maybe 31 games and have lots of cap room going into the 2010 season. That’s how Houston’s career should’ve gone but damn injuries robbed us Knicks fans of a couple of more good Houston seasons, a couple of first round playoff exits with one second round playoff run. (Still better than what we got in this timeline lol)

@danijelsotola6254 күн бұрын
@@gamerschannel9610 How would you construct Knicks roster after 2003? Would you trade for Marbury ili would you go in different direction?
@gamerschannel96103 күн бұрын
@danijelsotola625 I would've gone in a different direction. I'm a big Marbury fan but with the expiring contracts and draft picks the Knicks had at the time, I think we could've used it in a different way. First thing is I would've done if I owned the Knicks after the 2002-2003 season is force Allan Houston to FULLY recover from his micro fracture surgery to give the knee time to stimulate the cartilage growth it needed. This gives us atleast a 85% or 90% version of the Allan Houston we see in this video. Next thing is I would've fired Scott Layden and hired Donnie Walsh. Donnie Walsh wanted a job where he had full autonomy on basketball decisions. Donnie Walsh was available because the Pacers hired Larry Bird in 2003 as President of Basketball operations. Donnie Walsh would've done what he did for the Knicks in 2008-2011 where he cleared cap space for the 2010 free agency and was about to make a big move (I believe he would've gotten the Knicks Chris Paul had it not been for Dolan pushing the Carmelo Anthony trade which resulted in us losing half of our roster). Donnie Walsh would've done a great job as President of basketball operations for the Knicks. However, lets say for argument sake that the Knicks didn't get Donnie Walsh. Here is what I would've done after the 2002-2003 season: Let Houston get healthy Hire Lenny Wilkens as coach instead of letting Don Chaney start the season only to hire Lenny Wilkens later on in the season (In the Marbury timeline). Trade Latrell Sprewell & Clarence Weatherspoon to Portland for Rasheed Wallace. (The Blazers were tired of Rasheed Wallace and wanted to move him. (The Blazers ended up trading Wallace away to Atlanta for Shareef Abdur Raheem and Wesley Person. As a result, the Knicks definitely would've been able to get that deal done). Sprewell still had trade value and had atleast one good all star caliper season left in him and he had an expiring contract after the 2004-2005 season that would've been attractive to a team. Clarence Weatherspoon had a smaller expiring contract as well coming due soon after that year or the next. This leaves us with Antonio Mcdyess expiring contract along with some smaller role player deals that ended soon with Kurt Thomas and a whole bunch of draft picks coming up. Sign Vashon Leonard Re-sign Lee Nailon Trade Kurt Thomas, Shandon Anderson, & Charlie Ward's expiring contract to Milwaukee for Tim Thomas Sign Dikembe Mutombo. (He had a decent one year with the Knicks). This leaves the Knicks with a roster in the 2003-2004 season of: Howard Eisley, Allan Houston, Tim Thomas, Rasheed Wallace, and Dikembe Mutomobo starting. Bench = Frank Williams, Vashon Leonard, Lee Nailon, Antonio McDyess, Othella Harrington, and Michael Doleac Vashon Leonard great signing because he fills in for Allan Houston allowing him to take time to come back. I think that team makes about the 7th or 8th seed and is bounced in the first round in 5 or 6 games. But here is the most important thing. We have a healthy Allan Houston, productive Tim Thomas, Prime Rasheed Wallace, and CAP room and expiring contracts! After the 2003-2004 season, Howard Eisley off the books, Healthy Allan Houston, Tim Thomas two years left on deal and a productive NBA player. Tradeable contract. Prime Rasheed Wallace. Mutombo expired contract. If you remember in the 2004 playoffs, Frank Williams played very well. We keep and develop him into a good backup point guard. Vashon Leonard still has one more good season left and expiring deal. Lee Nailon expiring deal. The BIGGEST asset we have that came off of the books is the Antonio McDyess deal that expires leaving $13.5 million in cap room alone with that one contract! Othella Harrington one year deal left and Michael Doleac off of the books. At this point, the big move would be to sign Steve Nash with all of the cap room and we still have our draft picks. The only reason why Phoenix was able to sign Steve Nash was because they traded the big Stephon Marbury contract away to the Knicks for Antonio McDyess, Howard Eisley, Charlie Ward, Macej Lampe and draft picks. All of those players had expiring deals and that allowed the Suns to make an offer to Steve Nash. Well in this timeline if the Knicks dont trade those assets away, guess who signs Nash? The Knicks. Therefore to start the 2004-2005 season, the Knicks have a roster of: Steve Nash, Allan Houston, Tim Thomas, Rasheed Wallace, Frank Williams, Othella Harrington. The roster would still need to be filled out with the remaining cap room but we still have our draft picks and are in a better position going forward as a franchise! If Allan Houston does have career ending knee issues, the NBA gave each team the amnesty provision which allows one team to effectively not have to pay one player and it comes off of their books. I hate to say it but that is a good insurance policy in case Houston does have career ending knee issues. However, in this timeline I don't think Houston has the knee injury problems in the 2003-2004 season because Don Chaney isn't there to play Houston 40 plus minutes a game coming off of microfracture surgery. RIDICULOUS. Also, the Knicks have a different President of Basketball operations. I still think Allan Houston has slow knee injury problems due to cartilage but in the start of the 2006-2007 season instead of the 2003-2004 season. That's what I would've done.

As a Bulls fan, I rooted against the Knicks, but I rooted for the Knicks during their title run. Houston was the main reason why. His silky smooth jumper. To me, he has the most beautiful jumper ever. H20 also had a GREAT midrange and post up game. You could give him the ball and let him create and go to work as well as run him off screens. Total package offensively. He'd be nasty in this era of basketball. Watching him torch the Hawks and Pacers along with Sprewell carry them to the NBA finals was a joy to watch.

Nobody in the NBA today plays defense like Bowen. He would foul out in the first quarter. Allan Houston shot over 40% from three his career and almost took four a game so it isn't some cheap sample size. And that's when you could actually contest threes. These kids know nothing about basketball. They just see numbers and leave it at that. They don't know how to analyze anything
