To restore a cast iron all you need to do is scrub it with steel wool and dish soap . Then cook bacon in it eat the bacon then while the pan is still hot or warm take the oil from the bacon and rub it all over every inch of the pan in side and out handle too. Let it cool wipe the excess off and the pan is properly patinaed. Ready to use for generations.

If it's really rusty, it may require the ammonia and black plastic bag treatment, but I don't really know how it's done and never want to find out. Except that you do it OUTSIDE and with the wind blowing the other way.
@beckyjohnson4392 Жыл бұрын
I was always taught to never use soap. For rusty or non rusty clean with oil and salt and a rag. Scrub and wipe out. Put in oven for a few minutes to absorb and oil/salt left over. 🤷🏻♀️

Cubist was originally made in pink or green. Clear was reproduced in the 60's. Fostoria was only made in clear. Cubist was originally only made in luncheon pieces. I know I collected the entire set in pink for my daughter. It took years to gather all the pieces!

Last week I bought a chunk of glass, you won' t believe it. I developed an appreciation for the art of glass. And it all comes together. Heavy uranium glass wrapped in cobalt and deeply cut to clear. Slightly older than art deco, but straight forward like that. The complementary contrast, the brutal cuts, straight lines. Awesome. The best among these quite valuable pieces. A paid less than the current inflation rate of its actual value. The thing is pure joy. It transcends materialism. Timeless. And radioactive for the next 100 millennia.
