As someone who grew up in the same era I can vouch for that. I ran from them ass whoopings too but not 1 tenth of that fast.

I grew up real close to Bessemer Alabama too. There’s cats around here that still brag about just getting a hand on his jersey in high school! 😂 Not even close to a tackle but still proud!

For such a small, rural state, Alabama has produced great athletes... Bo Jackson, Willie Mays, Hank Aaron, Satchel Paige , Ozzie Smith, Jesse Owens, Carl Lewis, Terrell Owens, Charles Barkley, Joe Louis, Evander Holyfield, Julio Jones, etc.

By the way, Bo or Vincent Jackson, is not lying or making anything up. You can find his times and distances in the High School Track Annual published by Track and Field News for his years in high school, especially his Sr year. Jack Shepard does them.

Child abuse is when you beat them for no reason. Physical pain hardwires your mind and you will always associate that oain with the evevnt. So when you think about doign something wrong, you remember that pain. Just like when a child feels firecforcthe first time. They associate heat with danger.

People want to say whoppins is child abuse, but if you see the youth of today, vs yesterday, you’ll see a 360 degree difference. The youth today, don’t respect their teachers, their parents or any other adult, the youth of yesterday the 40 and up club, we still respect our parents til this day, and the adults who raised us.
