Buying a slave is not an awful thing. People are such children. Everyone believes in slavery, including you. We have lots of slaves all over the world, but so long as we call them something other than slaves you folks are okay with it... even when they are treated worse than slaves. @@CD-vb9fi Normally, I would not respond to this sort of comment, as this is discussing the fictional worlds in which this is very common, to the point buying a part of your found family in an isekai IS a trope. Hell, one of the more popular stories had the main character defend the practice, even as he does use his ability to cause his slaves pain in some rather strange circumstances. Now, as to the real world. There's a lot of things I hate in the real world, that I can do nothing about. Pollution, crime, abuse, destruction, greed, poverty, etc, etc, etc. I don't comment on them because there is little or nothing that can be done there, and discussing them in a detched, clinical way is an awful thing. Meanwhile discussing the merits of such practices in fiction is fine, as these people are not real, do not exist, and cannot be harmed by the discussion(outside of the Multiverse Theory 'World As Myth' and 'Self Perpetuation of the Human Mind' being true, at which point there are MANY other problems with reality). And to round out, slavery, historically, was a terrible, horrible practice, and saying anyone was 'better off' in those days tends to come from romanticized accounts of the practice, often perpetuated by the owners or the descendants, so they don't have to feel as bad about things as they otherwise would. Also, to be clear, this is not solely about slavery in the States, where it was indeed awful, terrible, and horrible, but in a world wide sense where this used to be a common thing for empires to do. We HAVE changed that, and are still going forward. The World is not Perfect, but we are getting there, as a great man once say. You have to look at things in aggregate to see that we are getting better off, in a standard of living sense. It has ups and downs of course, but overall, it is more up than down in the last century or two, and we can only hope it keeps that way.

Option 1. You are a slave. You go to a field each day and work. After hours you return home to your family. Option 2. You are a prisoner. Either choice you make will last the rest of your life. Which choice would you make? I would choose option 1. It's not that I am romanticizing slavery, the problem is that people refuse to recognize prison as slavery because it would break their small minds if they "truly" thought about the truth of it all. One of my favorite parts in Thor Ragnarok Grandmaster : Revolution? How did this happen? Topaz : Don't know. But the Arena's mainframe for the Obedience Disks have been deactivated and the slaves have armed themselves. Grandmaster : Ohhh! I don't like that word! Topaz : Mainframe? Grandmaster : No. Why would I not like "mainframe?" No, the "S" word! Topaz : Sorry, the "prisoners with jobs" have armed themselves. Grandmaster : Okay, that's better. This exchange nearly perfectly encapsulates my point. As long as no one "says that word" it's okay!

Another great recap with the usual humor, Nodby 😂👍 Honestly, I was initially hesitant to enjoy this one due to the slavery part but the story handles it well😲 It's less slavery and more like debtor's prison and the MC is going out of their way to help the two ladies. You forget *everything* that happened before the gem broke, hence costing you pretty much all of your life experience, or information about what got you into that situation in the first place, making life afterwards an impossible obstacle course of incompetency, jsut leading to you creating more frequent gems, and repeating the same thing over and over again. Which is also why he later wrote those letters to himself, in case the gem ever breaks. For a "cheat level skill" this one sure is trash. If it was not for the memory loss, sure enough, it would be broken af. But with that.. it's a waste of a skill slot lol, literally no point in having it whatsoever. Like, let's take it to the 2 extreme usecases. You either use it extremely early in your life, and then never again. In which case you retain most memories of your life, but also literally need to repeat all of it if it ever shatters. This is alright, i guess, if you might need a complete redo of your entire life with extra knowledge, but it still sucks. Or, second option, you make frequent save points, in which case you lose no actual "progress" to your life, but are an empty husk when it finally triggers, deleting everything you ever did from your mind. It's such a dumb concept, im not even sure if it was properly translated tbh, but his actions kinda confirm that's how it works. In which case: why would anybody *ever* take that skill? Seems like a plot device to make him eventually lose all his memories but somehow regain them through the power of friendship or smth.. didnt read the manga tho.
