Apparently in order to stop a hunt with a crucifix, the ghost has to spawn within a radius of 3 meters from the crucifix (5 meters for a banshee). That ghost probably spawned far away from it which is why the crucifix didn’t work those times

crucifix only covers a certain amount of area, like 3 meters i think. you have to place it within the room the ghost is haunting and hope that it covers where it will spawn. the crucifix does not stop hunts it prevents them from happening. since you have 2 crucifixs you have a higher change of it covering the spawn location for a hunt. a crucifix disappears after preventing 2 hunts. And there is one ghost that fears the crucifix buffing the area the crucifix covers to like 5 meters. once a hunt begins, you gotta hide. you can use smudge stick to make the ghost wander during the hunt giving you time to hide or run.
