America was founded by Europeans. Navajo tribal lands used to be controlled by Mexico. However in modern times the indigenous peoples of the Navajo Nation are a sovereign tribe that operates within the borders of the United States of America. They are their own nation with their own laws, governments, police force etc. And anyone born on US soil is "native" to America. That is why a lot of indigenous peoples refer to themselves as American Indians.

Belle Jolie so if you met an Asian Indian and they asked what are you and you say Indian what are they going to think? That you are Asian Indian which is not true. Native Americans have no blood line nor history with Asia Indians. They don’t share culture or language either. Plus, it may be an insult to India misrepresenting their people and culture . In short, Christopher Columbus was heading to India and got lost and ended up in USA. When he met Native Americans he thought they were another ethnic group from India he also said” these Indians would make great slaves” this is also why some Native Americans don’t like the term too

@Atanu Mondal, from what i learnt, for Javanese culture, when islam came, islam still respecting their own culture, but they eventually change their original culture (assimilate), because there was some "bad" culture/believes, such as human sacrification into mountain, drinking human blood to get stronger, people doesn't needed clothing, etc. So, the cultures that remain now were influenced mostly by Islam and also other religions. @@nisaac86 Sounds like your'e not a proud Canadian and are trying to pass yourself off as "American" in the United States of American citizens are called Americans...in Canada they're Canadians, in Mexico they're Mexicans, Brazil = Brazilians. But hey with a leader like Trudeau I can see why you would be embarrassed and lie about your nationality. :)
