Honestly, cutting ties with Destiny and not wanting to talk or debate is fine but this whole turn of events was super weird and Vaush's vids feels like a hit-piece with criticism couched in so much blatant mischaracterizations and revisionism. Destiny literally can't respond to the absolute coward comment or call out mischaracterizations like the Noah debate 'walkback' or else he's dramabaiting or spiteful? Despite the content drought due to league there were literally no videos on the channel or 2nd channel about the Ctrl+V and absolute coward comment or debate challenge to get clicks etc. And then Vaush decides to ban all mentions of Destiny, going out with a pretty bad faith rant he wanted his fan channels to make and imploring content creators to also ditch Destiny. My props are for including the clips even though they don't "side" with Destiny and show the tinge of uncharitability and that even the points Destiny countered with were usually weak. I'm hoping Destiny watches this for a sort of "meta" level rather than relying on memory or his increasingly insular "woo economics and wealthy people good minorities good when they're not too rowdy" community.

Yeah they both have a bit of an ego problem. Although with Vaush its a bit hard to tell how much of it is him coming across as an egotistical dick because of how he speaks what with the autism and how much of it is legit ego. Destiny however is every bit as egotistical as he seems best I can tell. I'm relatively new to both so the jury is STILL out on both but its not looking good for Destiny even if Vaush is a lil shitheel sometimes too. I might hate some of his rhetoric and probably even morals on what's acceptable to get your groups wishes but he has some good ideas and talking points without a doubt.

@@Pragabond I don't think its that outlandish. We stigmatise psychopathy and think of it in its most cartoonish and outlandish form, but psychopathy is much more common in society than we think and the vast majority of people with psychopathic tendencies aren't murdering people. Lotsa interesting research on this regarding its prevalence in sports teams, boardrooms etc. Where particular environments bring out the best in people with these tendencies as where it can be channeled (with the downside, particularly in sports people post-retirement, is the loss of the environment). Ie particular behaviors we wouldn't accept in regular society are praised in one particular arena. So I think the comment here regarding psychopathy may have merit

I don't blame Vaush for wanting to cut ties because it really seems Destiny's in it for the bloodsports/content, which doesn't provide anything of value. Vaush re-running his ideas verbatim after shitting on him is obviously pretty shitty. If vaush was adding something to what Destiny said or giving more nuance to it I'd agree with you. My real problem here is the arrogance of Destiny to think that he has such an influence on people that if they make an argument that hes made in the past than they ripped him off. Destiny acknowledges he has influences that help shape his own opinions on things. This is the way humans think. Should we now list every person that helped us come to a conclusion on any given topic when making an argument? You act like Vaush has to like or respect Destiny because he agrees with some of his points and that logic does not follow. Why do you think its shitty to like one argument someone makes but shit on something else they say? Do you believe that if someone popularized an argument they now own that argument and should be given credit whenever someone uses it? Do you think Vaush should have some gratitude for Destiny or something? @@kevinshaw5420 I believe if someone has an argument which they've popularized, copy pasting it word for word, graph for graph to your channel is a bit much. Having a similar idea is perfectly fine and building on what other people have said is encouraged. Blatantly ripping off content is kinda stupid, and if you do it you should probably cite your sources, yes. Vaush isn't adding anything more to the talk, he is copying. It's like citing a source in my, in my head I see that if you built on a sources idea you don't necessarily need to say so. Just because they are inconsistent and hard to categories doesn’t necessarily mean he is lying( not that Destiny is making this argument but I have seen many people do this). On top of that he still holds interesting positions on mental health, life ,political action and co-ops and so on. I’m only going to unsubscribe if I do not like his content or I get very little out of it. The mental health video of both of these guys are one of the most underrated KZbin videos as of yet. I personally think vaush is introspective about many things but not everything( like his internal logic, certain good faith criticisms from his fans and booksmarts) I think the same can be said about Destiny too btw but for different topics. I might agree with Destiny more and sometimes agree with vaush over Destiny , but I’m still gonna stick to my centrist take after watching booksmarts, I realised both the radical dggers and Vggers have cognitive dissonance in respect to their creator. The point brought up by Destiny at 27:51 seems a bit dishonest, the clip right after Vaush said that after the charity, he hopes that people that are [on the fence] about him are more likely to speak with him now, not that they were "larger".
@SultanOfSloths
@SultanOfSloths 3 жыл бұрын
Is it? The way I understood it was that anybody of smaller or the same size as Vaush would likely be happy to work with him, while larger content creators would be less likely because there is less to gain out of that transaction. That's the only option that makes sense to me, because if anybody else was on the fence because of his politics or character, that charity stream would've done nothing to change it.

You may not be aware of the context of that. You can go back and listen to his discussion with Xanderhal after he got unpartnered. That was after there were calls to action by Vaush's partner, mods and roommate for their community to go an report Destiny. When he called this out he was told even in his conversation with Xanderhal that nobody was trying to get him reported, that when they were calling him a fascist and a Nazi that should be banned that it was poor "phraseology" and nobody wanted anything to happen from those reports. So he said the same thing in his chat as a tongue and cheek jab to point out that they wouldn't accept these arguments if it wasn't their community. And he was proven right. Nobody called these people out except Destiny and his community and those were actions that lead to him being unpartnered.

@@RealFreedomMG There was never a call to action to report destiny from Hyena. There is literally no evidence of that. If other members of Vaush's community did that, that's not his fault. In all seriousness though It's not like Destiny is subtle about what he says. Again even in his conversation with Xanderhal after he got unpartnered he made the comparison. You can hear when Xanderhal brought it up Destiny just copied the reasons Xanderhal was giving for why nobody was trying get him banned after showing logs of people saying he should get reported, spreading a 30 second clip calling him a Nazi/fascist when Vaush's community is aware from Vaush himself how people use 30 second clips calling him a pedo/ CP advocate saying he wants to nuke Israel off the map, a transphobe etc. I think Destiny was hoping that the comparison would click in his head. While I appreciate Destiny's rhetorical skills, I think it's undeniable that he has the personality of a contrarian. Back when I taught college students, every semester I always had one or two students like him. Intelligence + a deep hatred of conformity led to these students making interesting, but ultimately fruitless, arguments in their papers. If you accept the reality that Destiny's primary motivation is simply hating whichever movement is growing in popularity, then a lot of his takes make sense, such as his bizarre support for Citizen's United or his insistence that white people should be allowed to use the N-word.

28:29 Destiny said that vaush said something like "oh i hope you guys see the good im doing, i hope some of you larger contentcreators wanna talk to me now", then we see 2 clips, when hasan raids, and then when vaush says "i hope that some of you who were on the fence about me to work with me in the future" You can see that the timestamp in the chat in both clips are hours and hours and hours apart. I think it is disingenuous to say that vaush wanted clout off of the charity, which the implication is of Destiny. And the 2 clips back to back 100% try to prove that point, even though they are so far apart from another. Vaush had in the past said that a lot of contentcreators did not want to work with him because of his edgy humour and edgy takes on certain topics. Are some of them large content creators? Sure. Does that mean that he does that to gain massive clout? No. At the very least there isnt enough evidence to suggest that. Yea, he acts like it doesn't matter because people are going to misquote him anyway. The thing is, you can look into the quote and see that people are full of shit. Now he's giving them ammo to use against him that'll be more effective. It's like when a woman accuses a man of cheating, then he uses that accusation as justification to do it. It's child logic, and it only serves to make people feel like they were right about you all along. And one more thing, I watched his take on the guy that only dates black girls, and while I started off agreeing with him, he pretty much spent the entire discussion putting words in people's mouths, and didn't even seem to understand the nuance of the position he was arguing against. He talks a good game about how "now" he's going to try to be more rhetorically effective, but then he just gets frustrated and pushes the chess board right off the table. Well, maybe 2022 Destiny will stick with it, because this aint the year.

The problem is Destiny's job at its core is something similar to reality t.v. or WWE. If he isn't getting into arguments or stirring up/indulging in controversy then it isn't entertaining to watch. By choosing to die on every hill and focusing on where he disagrees with people rather than offering solutions to problems he agrees 90% of the way on, he manufactures his own conflicts and confrontations ie "content" which inevitably results in him cutting ties with most of those he consistently comes into contact with over a long period of time. It's sad to me because I truly had high hopes for someone with as much potential as him to be a leader on the left people could get behind and work together with in order to reach a broader goal politically. Unfortunately, it seems he does not have enough discipline to treat others with respect when disagreeing or know when to back off of a non consequential point to an otherwise productive conversation.
