The novel explains that Vassago was basically dead and should have 100% died after Asuna used Mother's Rosario on him, but he simply keep on absorbing energy using his weapon and keep him alive for longer. so he just need to lose his weapon or something and he would die.

Sachi said something like “goodbye, Kirito”. It was pretty much revealed at the end of S1E3, when Sachi sent him that Christmas message, when she knew she was weak, how strong he actually was (over leveled compared to the rest of the guild), and that she knew he was going to hold it against himself when she knew she was eventually going to get killed, and that the Christmas message was to help him not feel so sad and to move on.

When he joined that group who opened the chest she said “it’s ok”, she didn’t want kirito to blame himself, she knew his lvl also because he was going through his stats and she saw while pretending to sleep. On that Christmas she sent him a message, well a song saying all this. 😭

Add to thia, she knew how big Kirito's heart was, and knew he wouldn't forgive himself for losing them. She wants him to let them go, because it wasn't his fault (and it really wasn't)

This episode had me in tears too. Yuuki appearing got it started, the call backs from other characters, eugeo got the tears going more. And then when kirito said "enhanced armament" pushed it over for me.

Just one problem with dub version. In original Asuna just say Welcome Back, Kirito. And Kirito respond to her, I'm back Asuna, and this was a reference for Fairy Dance arc, when Kirito arrives in hospital and Asuna was waiting for him in real life for the first time, he said "Welcome Back Asuna", and she responded "I'm Back, Kirito". Well two next eps will have more references to that hospital scene.

A point to be made about the void Kirito was in: that's depression and PTSD in a nutshell. We all have good moments, and bad moments. Those who are in that mix of depression and PTSD can not see anything other than the bad, at least not with help. Kirito, for years, has suffered loss after loss after loss, and every time he blames himself. He's kept thay silent, for years, and it wasn't until Eugeo, that it finally broke the dam. That scene really captures the absolute hell he's put himself through, and as someone with Depression, i watched this and felt his pain too.

Ah yes, the nightmare scene that became one of the biggest disappointments for light novel readers. (They cut like 2/3 of the Kirito nightmare and replaced it with that PowerPoint presentation)

This episode really destroyed me emotionally, though I honestly thought that the episode was gonna end with Kirito's journey to the mind, with the scene of Eugeo getting through to Kirito being timed to the ending theme, like how it was in Ep 14. This episode is also why I believe that PoH is the best villain of SAO, and I love that he was able to discern what was happening and actually seemed thrilled about it, rather than annoyed/shocked/angered about it, like other stereotypical villains would be in that situation. You really gotta feel for Kirito, since he's not even a true adult yet, and he suffers with all of this guilt from SAO, ALO, GGO and even the Underworld. It makes sense why it took so much to convince him to continue to make a stand again, since who wouldn't be broken after all of that (if you aren't evil like Vassago)

@@HallieJinLou it's say in one of the last episode quickly make sure to truly listen because there is no explication and it is doesn't clearly say. We just see a little vassago with the person that seems to be his father going to the hospital to see Kirito and if I remember well the father says " look this is your brother" or anything like that. This is why vassago seems to know Kirito very well and why he hates Japanese people, he hates them because they took his father. But Kirito doesn't know that vassago was his half brother. So in this moment Kirito killed the last member of his true family.
