It's crazy how effective this can actually be when you're used to seeing 90 mile an hour fastballs and now all the sudden you have some extremely slow and basic. might even make it more interesting if he could fire one in there. That could be a real nasty reverse change up. ( a changedown lol)

You should watch some of his clips. He has done that where he’s thrown 45 mph then the next pitch was 80 to completely throw off the batter.

This lowers the exit velocity making it much easier to field. A great strategy to get out of a game and save your staff, its why its an attractive option for a team and pretty fun. This guy is awesome.

Willians Astudillo played 5 years in the Major Leagues. 4 with the Twins and 1 with the Marlins. The last game he played was on July 27, 2022, as a second baseman for the Marlins in a game against the Cincinnati Reds. He went 1 for 4 and finished the season with a .241 batting average. For his 5 years career he had 561 at bats, and a career batting average of .267 He also participated as a pitcher for 7 games, pitching a total of 7 innings.

It seems these slow pitches cause the batters to swing slow. They dont hit hard, and now you have a situation where major league players are gobbling up little league hits. It's genius. 30mph difference between pitches. 45mph lobs that come in way high and drop in the strike zone last second. This guy is great
