Too many of you focus on trophies and not the wider context. Do you not remember the state Arsenal was in when Arteta joined, and how long it had been since Arsenal were considered an elite team? Not only were Arsenal not competing but they were considered soft, easy to bully, with a weak mentality. As well as this the toxicity between the fans and the club was at an all time high. We won some FA cups in Wenger's latter years, but the team would get destroyed regularly by better teams in the league and UCL. Arteta has only won a single trophy, but the progrees made and the direction we're going in is undeniable. Best defense in the country, one of the best in Europe, broke our goal scoring record last season, increasing our points tally every year, improving squad depth, actually attracting decent players again, challenging for title two seasons in a row, back in UCL. Arteta is successful because he's improved our squad, mentality, connection with fans, image of the club and squad, and had us 2 points behind one of the best squads the Prem has ever seen. Who else could you convincingly say would have got Arsenal to this position considering where they were? Not many managers. Yes, he needs to win a trophy. But to say he isn't successful when he's performed the miracle of turning around such a toxic club is crazy to me. It's his first job and he's competing with one of the best managers of all time, and doing it better than other high spending clubs in the Prem. Again, yes, he needs to win a trophy. But he's done far better than everyone expected, and is still improving. So he deserves respect.
