Very odd set of highlights… in the first game, they don’t show any of Ali’s points until the final rally. He just magically gets to 10 😅

Exactly that. It shows the character of a person, as they start to decline, the way they treat their lower ranked opponents. He's like a petulant child often.

I'd be surprised if Shorbagy even breaks into the top 4, let alone no. 1... it's just far, far away at this point.

He was #3 not that long ago after dropping down to about 8th, but he has declined again since then. I think his body is betraying him, and a lack of maturity is seeing his mental game go with it.

Yet in advance a player should work on his mental strength but I think we should not comment bad or inappropriate comment on his past behaviour yet, he is a human therefore every human is not perfect. Indeed he is an excellent player and will always provide the best on court.

@@HassanAli-lr4jc best is not just how well you play, it's also how you conduct yourself on and off court to your opponents, and the referees. Recently shorbagys behaviour toward his opponents and referees has been terrible.

I would love to see Elshobagy try and bully Declan James or George Parker the way he did Soliman. Deserves a ban for that honestly. Throwing your opponents racket, blocking them, shoving them, putting sweat on the ball, crazy.

Farag has got better a lot later on than Elshorbagy. Mo was clear of farag in his younger days, got himself to finals in 2012 onwards (so wouldve been around 20/21 at the time?) and had to compete with Nick Matthew, Ramy, Gaultier, Gawad and so on

@@Charlie_500xx Very true, although you have to admit at the moment there are only around 4/5 players fighting for tournament wins consistently - Farag, Coll, Asal, Elias and maybe one more idk - and it has been that way for a while now. Also don’t see it changing anytime soon? From 2012-2018 the range of players winning was a lot more diverse

It would have been fun to see a peak Amr Shabana or peak Ramy Ashour game give Farag interesting problems to adjust to. Amr Shabana just seemed like a cool looking unplayable nightmare at his best when faced with any kind of tempo, rhythm, technical challenge or intensity. Amr had a way about him that could negate anything coming his way at his best. Whilst Ramy had a knack of dragging the game in to deep waters technically, physically, in intensity and in the reading department too with all kinds opponents and playing styles. Ramy somehow was effective at creating a weird uncertainty filled chaos in the points then going deeper in it and willing through it in a way that allowed things to go in his favor.

Elshorbagy has always been entertaining from the perspective of beast mode, where you have to drag his body off the court before he gives up. Incredible psychological strength and squash IQ. Made for excellent matches against Nick Mathew, Gaultier, and crew. However, the current crop does play prettier squash: love a five-setter of Farag and Elias. The current meta is just unreal

If I were Shorbagy, I would make next year his farewell tour. He is only a shadow of his former self and there’s no way he’s getting to number one again against this current crop of top players. Too many miles on his body. He’s had a wonderful career and it’s time to throw in the towel like Matthew and Gautier did before him.

Farag looks far more fluid on the backhand than Shorbagy in this video. Shorbagy looks more relaxed while playing Paul Coll than he does with Farag. That's interesting given Paul Coll seems to give Farag a tougher time than Shorbagy has been able to recently. The boxing term styles make fights comes to mind.

I feel at 2:50 Shorbagys movement wasn't outrightly illegal but it was pretty poor conduct, Farag wasn't happy, it really g'd him up. The way he earned that single point cost him the game most likely. I have been fairly disgusted by Shorbagys behaviour in the last few years, at times. He is every bit as bad as Asal with some of his tactics.
