The doncon cannon hits twice then explodes the reason Smith's living is because hes standing in the middle only getting hit once and running through it when other people get hit with the doncon cannon they usually run to the side and hope to avoid it so they get hit twice thats why they somtimes live and sometimes die Thank you for enjoying my ted talk

Barry's skin is higher up and moderately sized, not really affecting how often he's hit or not. Zoey's skin is the same size as Barry, but is on the ground, no problem. Smith's skin is half the size of either of their skins, which is a quarter of anyone else's, making it seem super fast. To be honest it's more than slightly bullshit. When he used the minifier last episode that was also BS.

Also Zoey's skin stops her from making some jumps where as Smith's skin doesn't stop him making some jumps. On top of that his skin seems to survive Donconnons, though it could just be luck.

It's interesting to watch everyone forget that the doncannon isn't an instant kill unless you are in the explosion radius. Like, if you just walk through it, you take like 60 damage. It's always been like that since the reworks. It just usually gets used on people who are less than 100 health, or stand around in it long enough to die.

Interesting option for a randomat: freeze everyone but the traitors for like 3 seconds, if they see someone move, they can identify them as a traitor. If the traitors don't want to blow their cover, they need to react quickly by standing still.
