He's not one trick pony, he's a worthy successor to pianists like Richter, Horowitz, Gilels, he absolutely belongs to this company of best pianists to ever live. If you have a chance hearing him live make sure to not miss out, you will never forget that experience.

@@franksmith541dumbest shit I’ve ever read in my life. Most of the great pianists don’t record those pieces because they don’t want to, not because they can’t play them to standard. 99.99% of pianists record only a tiny slice of the piano repertoire, and no one plays those pieces you list perfectly. Siirala is the best you can hear for the passacaglia but it isn’t one take. It becomes a professional choice whether you want to waste time on those kinds of pieces, which aren’t very popular imo for good reason. I know 100% you do not play piano if you cannot understand this fact that Volodos can obviously learn those pieces you listed. If I were a pianist who could play anything in sight, I certainly wouldn’t be spending my time on the late romantic virtuosos you seem to use as some kind of idiotic barometer.

The Octaves and Hammering were extremely loud but not banging or obnoxious but in an almost fantastical and powerful manner that i absolutely loved. I also noted the way he made it look easy, that is hard to do. I also love the applause at the end from the audience, he deserved it. I also noticed the camera shaking in some parts of the video which is kind of ironic but funny 😂 And towards the end of the performance the audio and video was out of sync with his hands.
