Watched him and he was playing amongst the best young players in the world such as 1. Leo Cardoso (playing for Chelsea currently and has represented both England and Portugal) , 2. Bounidia who recently joined Ajax after major interest from all of Europe 3. Gian Luca who in my opinion was the second best player in the tournament and was Argentinans star man. 4. Brazil's problem is recent years is that they have sought to produce strikers in the European mould, that is big, physical players who can score but nothing else. They can't dribble, the long range shooting is atrocious, and their overall technical ability is lacking. If Brazil are to be would champions again, they need to go back to their footballing identity and groom forwards of the likes of Pele, Vava, Romario, Bebeto, Ronaldo and Rivaldo. If not, they will keep disappointing time and time again.

As a Palmeiras supporter, while Abel is excellent as a coach, I think he could be a bit better at promoting young players. On one hand, one can see his approach here as careful, since Endrick is really young, but on the other, Veron, Gabriel Silva and others could have been better used. At the same time, some of our younger talent have been involved in some... controversies. It might even have been the reason Veron was sold for a measly 10m euros.

We do have interesting prospects for the future, but for 2023 we *need* more ready, mature players. I will say we forget how unstoppable a force Christiano Ronaldo and Messi were. CR7 could literally beat you on anything from elite heading, right foot, left foot, cutting inside, cutting outside, outside the box, late runs into the box, poaching. I don't want to criticize a kid that hasn't even gotten a chance on the big stage yet but I think its always a mistake when people hype up players that dominate the youth leagues. Some people develop a lot faster than average in terms of physicality and ability giving them a giant advantage when playing against average kids their age. The problem is that once they step into the professional field the others will have caught up to them in terms of development and they no longer stand out. It happens so often that young wonder kinds grow up to be quite 'average' players because the jump from kids to the men is huge. Thats why I can only get excited for players that have proven it with the pros. Take Neymar, Ronaldo and Messi. They made grown men look like beginners in their early years so you knew they actually have that special something. Scoring 100 goals in the u19 proves nothing...

He wasn't on par with Ronaldo or Messi over his whole career but no player ever was if were are honest here. And in terms of career achievements Neymar is better than R9. Also if you take their Primes they are on a very similar level. The problem is that people love R9 and hate Neymar so they say Ney isn't up there. Stats and the eye test speak to a different reality however.

My problem with this hype is that at this age there is an extreme uncertainty over how good a player can actually be. Just giving an example, “The Guardian” releases every year a list of the best young players in the world (players aged 16 years old). Look at older lists and see how many of those players actually became world class (maybe 10 of the 60 they outline). Not saying that Endrick cannot become a great player, he has that potential (plus, he has a humility and a great personality), but we should probably try to look at him understanding the trials and tribulations of the path he is currently in, and knowing that while the stars are the limit, he is currently still at the ground.
