Certain ratings count more towards the Overall rating based on position. Defending and Physicality count the most towards the overall for Center backs, thats why he can be 88 but still have low stats in dribbling and passing. For a striker Shooting and dribbling would count more towards the overall than physicality, pace or defending for example.

The overall is basically a reflection of how good they are in real life but the individual traits don't always match that, for example kane plays awful in game because he is slow but has a high rating because he is a baller in real life

These aren't the same as stuff like pace,shooting ect but do determine those regular stat ratings (e.g stuff like vision, short passing, long passing making up passing), but not with the same weightings as the overall for the position, so the overall won't necessarily reflect the general stat scores scores.

@@deedyg575Or, they can make more stats linear in relation to each other. 90+ passing should feel like 90+ passing. 90 + Positioning should feel like so as well, so players without as much pace can still be very good since it’s not entirely dependent on pace. They’re not really fixing anything, just building on what’s already horrible.

Yeah because it is never explained properly if you go into the in game stats it makes way more sense. 70 passing seems low but he might have to get to that rating 90 short passing 90 long passing and 60 crossing for example.

It’s the stats that determine the rating I.E carra’s pace might be 67 acceleration but 84 sprint speed over all 80 and so on. I don’t get how people don’t understand this. His dribbling is everything like control, balance not just dribbling and he probs has 2* skill moves etcetera 🤦🏼‍♂️🤣

Important point missed: that's the score for that POSITION, not overall. With the same stats he wouldn't be an 88 midfielder or forward. So it's pretty much based on the last two scores

cant have a host who doesnt understand the card itself! the overall rating for each position only takes into consideration stats related to it. Also "dribbling" isnt just on the ball, its your agility, balance, reactions, composure etc too. Same with passing, its not just simple and long balls, its your vision, crossing, curve etc too

My guy did an absolutely terrible job explaining what OVR and the stats do. Dribbling ain't just technical, it's also ball control and moving with the ball, not only running as in general dribbling. OVR isn't a percentage rather depends on the position of the player for which stats are higher weighted.

Same with dribbling. Dribbling average, is not based on the dribbling skills, but on the collective of ball control, and agility/reaction stat. His dribbling is quite bad but his ball control is acceptable. His reactions are prob high as well, so it overcompensates the average.
