@@michpfeffer1197 Even then your notes probably don’t come out right, it depends on where you got it and the price. I can tell you personally that Amazon flutes won’t work as well as a concert flute bought from a instrument manufacturer. But this isn’t to bash you, but if you plan on continuing the flute you’ll probably have to change the flute eventually either because of your notes not coming out correctly or you get to the point where you need the flute that is longer than the f concert flute. This is just a suggestion if you plan on continuing the flute, you don’t have to listen to me this is just my personal thoughts but if you do decide to buy from a instrument manufacturer, Jupiter and Yamaha have great f concert flutes!

This is why a flute is one of the hardest woodwinds to play (especially low notes for me at least) 1. The fact he probably doesn't even have the flute put together right 2. Hes probably blowing different temperature air through the flute doesn't help him play 3. Him hiking it with one hand gives me anxiety 4. The fact he doesn't have his fingers in the right places 5. He doesn't know how to read notes 6. Him trying to trill isn't working quite right 7. He's not blowing enough air through the flute 8. He doesn't have a solid sound 9. He surprisingly didn't get light headed 10. He doesn't know the difference between notes

As a flautist... The octave slurs were not too bad actually. I want to suggest something that could help with your embouchure (mouth placement) on your flute: Take your index and middle finger and put them together. Kind of like the farewell they give Katniss in the Hunger Games but without the ring finger. Place your fingers horizontally under your bottom lip. When you blow, you want to try and aim your air to hit in between your index and middle finger. On the mouth piece of the flute, the area in between your middle and index finger is similar to the distance to the hole of the mouthpiece on the headjoint. If it doesnt hit the middle, you dont move your fingers. Use your lip muscles to move your lips to change the direction of the air. Once you’ve hit close to the center you can try and get a much more precise sound by making the hole in your lips smaller so the air is more direct. But thats only when you get comfortable with blowing into the mouthpiece and when the sound you make is consistent. Ask Katie mentioned, another way to get your embouchure is by blowing into bottles to get a sound. Hopefully this helps Joel! :3 Twas a very entertaining video

For only learning in an hour and having distracting challenges thrown at you, you did really good! I’ve been playing flute since I was 11 years old and I remember learning so much of this over weeks in my hour long school band class. The first song we played was ‘Mary Had A Little Lamb” as it encompassed everything we had learned at that point and that was at the end of September. So great job on accomplishing so much so quickly! Also I love the colorful flute! I wish they had had those when I was growing up. My flute is just a silver one that my grandparents bought for me.

Tips from a flautist= 1. Smile a bit and glue the inside of your lips together 2. Line up the blow hole and the buttons on the body 3. Curve your fingers, much easier 4. Hold the flute quite hard against your bottom jaur (I can't spell ik) I'm grade 3 and been doing it for 2 years so u did well!

It's definitely not less air. The flute takes so much air to get a loud, clear tone. Second only to the tuba in a typical orchestra
