I decided to knock on this door and offer a free mowing and edging service to this homeowner when I drove by and saw that their grass was getting pretty tall and the edges on their lawn were super overgrown. The homeowner told me it would help him out so much but when I saw the very back yard, I would be retracting my "Free" statement. I said that we will see about that...

To those judging the homeowners for how overgrown the backyard is: whether it be mental or physical, not everyone is fully able/capable of doing yard work all the time. Yeah man, when I lived really far South as a kid, my parents had a huge yard. That environment- hot, humid, almost always sunny, tons of rain- grew things so thick, and so fast. It was practically a jungle. We'd have to do a job about twice what was in this video five or six times a year. It usually took four to five people an entire weekend. And a week later the grass would be higher than your ankles. My dad already worked hard labor all week, and my mom has severe allergies to just about everything. It was insane and we didn't have hundreds of dollars a month to dedicate to lawn care. Don't fuggin judge.

Just an idea, especially for those homeowners that are weirded out by the “free” part (I’m thinking of the video from last week with the power washing down found sidewalk), maybe make a yard sign with either advertising your business (if you normally do work in the area) or your KZbin and say they can repay you by putting the sign in their yard for a week or two. Let’s them feel like there is a transaction taking place. I realise you’d do it anyway, but hey two birds-one stone!

Truthfully he’s making far more money off these videos than he’d get for a job like this. And he wouldn’t even get these crazy jobs without making it free. Nothing wrong with letting the experience be completely free for these folks and hoping they do a good thing in turn later.

@@pultofcat8615 I agree mostly, I was just thinking of the lady last week that was thinking her neighbours had complained and were paying on the d-low or something and was really embarrassed. A simple non-monetary transaction to prove that she didn't need to be embarrassed would have likely helped.

@@gingercake0907The homeowners do need the help but he and other KZbinrs aren't really doing it for "free". They are recording what they're doing, putting here, on KZbin and making money off that. These videos are so inspiring to watch, and relaxing, too! I'm a city girl these days, but my first job out of college was in lawn care for a small company in my hometown. I didn't much care for that job, but I found that was mostly because working in that environment lacked a sense of purpose. Watching your videos, I can see that sense of purpose in what you're doing for these people and it inspires me to carry that spirit of generosity into my daily life. Keep doing what you're doing - it really makes a difference for people!

My son works as an arborist and comes in contact with poison ivy, oak and such daily. He is extremely allergic. If he gets it's he's down for weeks and has ended up in the hospital before. He uses isopropyl alcohol on a wash cloth and then scrubs with dawn dish soap and a wash cloth if he has concerns about getting it. He has stayed out break free since he has done this cleaning routine. Thanks for the education on this SB.
