Have I got a good one for you today. Now, I don't normally see that many critters on my jobs, the noise usually scares them away, but this one is a bit of an exception. The homeowner was chuffed when I knocked on his door and offered to do a free makeover. When he showed me the backyard, he said - I bet you'll regret taking this on. If only he'd seen some of the jobs that I've done, hahaha! He actually inherited this place from his mother and, as you can see, would prefer to be doing something else, besides gardening. Anyway, this is a good episode, I'm sure it will be a satisfying watch. All up, I spent around 16 hours on this job, with 2 trips to the landfill included.

FAQ's:
Q: Where are you located?
A: I am from Hobart, Tasmania, Australia 🦘.
Q: Do you worry about snakes?
A: I have never even seen a snake in over 5 years on the job.
Q: Which equipment do you use?
A: Mostly STIHL power equipment (battery and petrol) and commercial Honda self-propelled mowers.
Q: How much do the jobs cost?
A: Sorry, I prefer not to talk about costs.
Q: What happened to Nick?
A: Nick was offered a full-time position at his other job as a Political admin.
Q: What happened to Brent?
A: Brent quit at the start of August 2022.
Q: Why don't you use tarps instead of bins?
A: Tarps are too difficult to move through small spaces and lift into the trailer. The same for wheelbarrows, they are only good for unloading the trailer!
Q: Why are the hot water cylinders outside?
A: I would say it's because Australia had a temperate to tropical climate, and therefore it doesn't matter that much if they are outdoors. To me, though, it seems a bit inefficient to have them outside in Tasmania with a temperate climate (coldish for 3 - 4 months per year). But that is industry standard down here 🤷‍♂️.
Q: Why are you cutting so close to your employee?
A: I'm not cutting too close to my workers, they are standing too close to where I am working! All of my workers have been told numerous times about standing too close to the tools and about the hazards involved!
Q: Why do your workers do all the lifting and carrying?
A: Basically, they are employed to carry things and I pay them well, to do the job required.
Q: You work so well together, how do you do it?
A: That's the magic of editing. My workers are basically given instructions on what to do, I just edit it all out, so the videos look seamless!
Q: Why don't you have help?
A: I've had many problems with employees in the past, so now I work alone.
Q: Why don't you have a ride-on mower?
A: Well, there are a few reasons.
1. I don't have the right trailer for a ride on, considering I always take away the green waste.
2. I don't have anywhere to store it, as my shed is too small.
3. A lot of the properties we do have fences and gates, so you can't actually get a ride-on on to the properties.
4. I don't do enough big jobs to justify spending 15k AUD on a stander, but it would be nice to have one!
5. I will get one as soon as my transport and storage problems are solved.
Q: What happened to your workers?
A: Because the work is so hard and I expect high standards, most have quit over time. The only exception so far is Nick.
Q: What types of ladders do you use?
A: The large one is a Gorilla Adjustable Platform 150kg and the small one is a Gorilla Mighty 19. They are both adjustable.
Q: Who/what is Jim's Mowing?
A: Jim's Mowing is a franchise business. The Jim's Group is the biggest home services franchise in Australia.
Q: Why do you have 2 channels that seem the same?
A: Quick Cuts (my original channel) has music in the background. Quick Cuts V2 is for those that like just machine noise, and it doesn't have music.

Of all the yard transformation channels that I watch on KZbin, you are, by far, the most meticulous of all of them. You not only take care of the landscaping, but you go the extra mile and organize everything around the property. And then, you make sure that the animals that you find are safe. This Canadian is grateful 👍

Always outstanding transformations! Thanks for the view of the wildlife. Beautiful birds, ants not harmful (👍), the skink, beautiful for what it is. A bit shocking to find. 😳 That sugar gum. Thought it was dead by the bark. Really beautiful when you showed the top. Thanks George, do enjoy your videos. The rolling mountains usually seen in about every video. Beautiful area. 👍👍

I agree. In fact, I’ve learned a lot from his videos and have put his technique to good use. The biggest help is the realization that fatigue is reduced if I swap tools regularly. I used to do just one thing (i.e. trimming) and move to the next. Now I mix it up. 👍

Hello George! I always admire your work and especially how precise you are. Not every gardener has it. For example, rearranging the bricks or comparing the logs under the shelter. Others would let it go and not deal with it. You are unique in that!!! This transformation was also amazing, including the zoological pacifier, although I wouldn't want him in the garden :-))) Take care and have a nice weekend!!!💯👍👍👍🌿

WOW you went above and beyond just mowing, trimming trees and bushes. The backyard cleanup and "organizing" that mess of bricks, tools, etc. was totally amazing. Good thing you left the worst area of that property till the end LOLOL. I bet you took a whole day off to recoup from that job. BEAUTIFUL JOB and FANTASTIC VIDEO...I LOVED seeing the awesome lizard it was so calm when you picked it up. GOD BLESS you and your GIFTS.

I so love the way you work, George! Methodical, careful, attention to detail, cleaning up as you go... you even stacked those bricks better!! I was so stoked to see that! I also loved how you are a man who notices the creatures and I loved seeing the cockatoos, the ants and the blue-tongued lizard. I think the old dude should move his pushbike closer to his house or put it in that brick shed. Someone might spot it from that sports field and just lean over the fence and nick it. It looks so dry! I felt for the lizard and the hydrangeas thinking they might love a good drink. Beautiful job. I can't get over how hard you work and what amazing results you get. So good of you!

They are quite beautiful and generally harmless. You did a splendid job. So good of you to stack the logs in their correct place and to tidy up the brick pile too. Most wouldn't bother bout that. George, hands down you do the best yard makeover. 👏 It’s nice to follow along with you as you make your way around the yard, cleaning up as you go. There is no jumping around with you! I do like the way you tell us names of the plants and trees, so interesting as I like to learn. This time we had critters! Those ants looked huge! The Cockatoo was nice to see for this birder! 😊 The Blue Gum tree and the way you showed us the top was cool! It’s a beautiful tree. The water meter was a new ID for you. I hope you do more of this. I’ve been wanting to know what the concrete “bowls” are that I’ve seen in many of your videos, wasn’t one in this one. I smiled watching you stack the bricks, it’s that desire in you to get it right that makes your videos so fun to watch! I absolutely love the Australian walkways to the clothes line and your reveal of them. I’ll say your skinks are much larger than the ones here! 😄 Enjoyed George! Love your editing as well. Enjoy your summer, we are in the middle of winter here. 💚 from Texas

Another great job you did George!! People in Tasmania should be very thankful that you do that for free. It helps with the neighbor hood for sure I bet the neighbors like it when you clean up the yards also. I live in the USA and we can not let are yards get that bad at all. The city you live in will give you a citation and then you have so many days to get it done or they will come and do it for you with a heavy fine and cost for them to do it. That yard you just done looks like it could catch on fire any minute. It was very dry in the video. Any you do a fabulous job as always.

That yard/garden looks so nice in the end! Those Blue Gums are beautiful, but they sure put off a lot of trash. Loved the animal interactions - I know you can't force animals to show up, but it was great seeing them here. We have blue-tailed skinks near where I live (Ohio, US) - they say if you mess with them too much, they will drop their tails (?I've never seen that happen), -they are a lot smaller than your blue-tongued skinks. Thanks for your videos! -It is very interesting to see Australia/Tasmania from this viewpoint, -you helping people with their yards. -Those birds were beautiful! 😁

We have blue-bellies here on the west coast of the USA, but they are So much smaller than the blue-tongue in Aussie. They will leave their tail behind if they are caught by it and it will regrow. Used to hunt them up as a kid, but we would pinch their bellies to pick up so the tail stayed on so we could look at them for a while and then let them go back on their way. Lizards are fascinating!

Now that is a clean slate George! All the homeowner needs now is a friendly tree lopper to remove the trees in the front yard. Please don't get me wrong, I love the gums but its just the wrong place, always dropping leaves, lifting the foot path and the lawn will never grow. You always go above and beyond, so enjoyable to watch, looking forward to the next one

It would be unfortunate if the owner didn’t take care of those gums out front in the long run, but for me, they are so beautiful to look at, so I wouldn’t want them gone 😊

George, as usual, great job! And I have to say, I loved that you identified the music at the end and although I'd never heard it before, my wife and I both loved it.

Hello George. I want to start by saying congratulations with your new queen 👸🏻we are so proud to have adopted Mary Donaldson to be our queen here in Denmark. 🇩🇰 we love her so much. This makeover was one of the best ones I think. It’s so fun to see the different animals that we don’t have here in the north.
