The death threats that people talk about had nothing to do with the ships of the show, it was due to people thinking that Endeavour didn’t deserve the character development based around his abusive nature, and the name of a character that had negative connotations in Japanese. People just spread false rumours due to disliking gay ships existing in the fandom. In fact, one of the top ships in Japan is bakudeku itself. :)
