Some great stuff here in only 10m. Particularly the "go make 20 videos" test, and "take a hard, objective look at what you're making." YT being a "platform of momentum" doesn't quite ring true... there are a lot of factors that might make this look true on the surface, but prevailing sentiment right now seems to point to individual video performance. Aka, "good videos will do well, regardless of channel activity."

Came here to say this. Based on everything I've researched and personal experience from my own channel, KZbin is certainly not a momentum platform. It's based on individual videos. That's why lots of channels get 400k views on one video then 10k views the next.

@@WhatsUpEnglishVN yeah I’m guessing what he’s describing is true - their new uploads benefit from suggested and browse hits coming off of their recent vids that still perform well. But creators less familiar hear this and think their channel on the whole is getting a boost on this “momentum” 😅 and I feel like this leads to lots of myths on posting schedules and times.

I hate to say it but shorts also negatively impacted my longs views. I've tried this on two different occasions, and I'm not for shorts on youtube at all anymore.

I really thought this was a fluke accident but it’s happens to me repeatedly!!! I had a video that was doing well and a soon as I posted the short the views tinkered off slowly but noticeably. Weird

This is all TV 101 stuff that's been going on for decades. It's the very thesis upon which movie trailers have been cut and promo's for shows. The "custom hooks" thing is hilarious. It's called a Re-ask and has been part of ENG for years.
