So one of two things probably happened. One he made a silly mistake of spending over 1.7 mil on a lego game, either not realized the money his robux were worth, or he got hacked. Or two he couldn't devx the robux because so many people had stolen his game it would've been difficult to prove he was the one who made the game originally, or he likely didn't put a copy right on the game basically saying that nobody else can recreate his game, unless that wasn't a feature back when he made the game. But because he didn't do that it probably lead to legality issues preventing roblox from giving him the money. You also probably didn't take into account government tax because he would've made so much money so quickly the government also would've taxed him, so he wouldn't make as much as you calculated.
