Since this was released, I've been trying to go over it, in an attempt to clarify any inaccuracy within, Cindy is absolutely amazing and I love her to death, I don't know about the rest of you, I'm not going to be able to accurately memorize anyone's life story to any respectable degree, regardless of the time provided. I didn't find out about the incest component until later on in life, I first was told about the rape component at the age of 17, and my adopted parents (referring to them as adopted parents is really foreign, they got me at 9 days old, they're all I've ever known), didn't want to tell me about the rape, my mother was beside herself, but she also knew I was going to find out, and if she had tried to conceal this, it would have had a negative impact on my relationship with her, to provide a little context, my parents were in the process of adopting another child, and this one didn't turn out going so well, the child had not only suffered horrendous abuse, but had also failed to break that cycle, and not only had he abused other children before, but it carried over into our home as well, my parents found out the adoption agency knew about the abuse and did not disclose the information and actually filed a lawsuit, throughout the court proceeding, the defense team brought in my biological mother and biological aunt, I think the intention was to attempt to discredit me, I have no idea how they thought that would help them, it really goes to show the raging incompetence of the legal defense team but I got a copy of the court report, again my mother was extremely reluctant, but knew the truth would come out eventually, this is when I first heard about the rape, and the incest factor was introduced, I didn't initially process the incest part, it was several years later, my wife and I revisited the court report and ask my wife saw it, she pointed it out, and even as an adult, the weight of reading that, my life was instantly toppled upside down, I had already spent the majority of my life thinking I was conceived through an act of violence, but you throw on something like incest, I'm going to be honest, I barely made it through that, and I certainly didn't get there gracefully. I can't imagine the catastrophic consequences had I found out about the incest portion immediately, it truly was difficult enough to process under the already existing circumstances, but I will never forget the day, I had been working with Shelley Kelley, and I had been dragging my feet a little initially as I was terrified of what I could potentially find out, and it took about 3 weeks to get the intake lined up, and honestly I was about to back out of it, and just say forget the whole thing, but Shelley reached out and got me lined up with Cindy, and it was around 6pm when we did this intake, and I literally woke up the next morning to the floodgates opening, they had found my biological half-brother on the maternal side and a cousin on the Paternal side. I reached out to both, but when I reached out to my cousin, her and I spoke, and she asked if her mother could contact me, when I hung up the phone with her, it was literally a matter of minutes before my Aunt called me back, that's when I learned who and where my father was, I hung up and my wife and I immediately began to coordinate the trip down to Arizona.

My biological mother was the one who started the whole incest thing, and you end up feeling like you're contaminated, my biological father passed away a month and a half ago, but I thank God, had I waited six months I never would have gotten the opportunity, and the incest fiasco would have more than likely been my truth, I grew up hating my father, my perception of bio mom was that she was the victim of lifelong trauma and never really had a chance, and I extended her grace, I have three biological brothers, and have since found out she would go to the foster homes the boys were located at and taunt them with adoption, I don't have a very high opinion of her, but while my father and I certainly butted heads, this experience brought me light years in restoring my sense of self worth

Edit: what my wife did was even more incredible than what Cindy described, we got the call the evening of the 27th, around 10pm, my wife and I loaded up the car, took the kids, the entire family other than me, jumped in the car, drove from Utah to Arizona, packed and picked up my father, drove home to Colorado and got him unpacked and jumped in the car and drove back to Utah in time for my mother's funeral, which all happened in a period of 4 days.

I do still believe that my biological mother experienced abuse to some capacity, I have no idea the depth of it, but she wound up at least from my perspective, with severe emotional detachment, and that's typically a trauma response.

It breaks my heart that anyone would tell a child that they were the product of incest, even it had turned out to be true you should never put that on someone! I’m assuming his bio mother has/had some kind of issues if he was able to find out that she gave away at least 3 children. Jason and his wife are incredible! Maybe his mother was abused. My aunt by marriage had a maternal first cousin whose father had molested her since the age of 10. She had been her cousin's confidant. The girl coped with it by being very promiscuous. she had a baby out of wedlock and back in those days there was no way to know who the father was. Only if blood types did not match could any male be ruled out.

It's certainly not my intention to rebuke you, you have to figure out what's right for you, but the comment about the funeral, you might end up regretting, I've lost both my adopted parents and my biological father since December of 2022, my bio dad and I had a fairly significant disagreement about a month before he died, I didn't talk to him for 3 weeks, my wife(soon to be ex=wife, we just signed divorce papers) pointed out that we butt heads the way we do because we're so much alike, that hit home and I went to repair the damage, he died a week later, had i not done that, I would've spent the rest of my life regretting it.

@dnangelsorg2544 My adopted mother, the one who did pass, this is the description I've given for her for decades, my mother's what would happen if you roll Betty Crocker, June Cleaver, Donna Reed, Martha Stewart (pre-prison days of course, this is an important distinction), and then sprinkle on a dash of Mother Theresa, and roll them all into one little ball, that's what you had with my mother. I had the mother that all my friend's that came from broken homes, troubled homes, all conveyed throughout the years, that they wish they had, I heard it all the time, she was truly incredible.

Regrettably, this story doesn't have the happy ending, after all we went through, my wife stepped out and had an affair, this is the second one and we filed for divorce today, my job was intertwined with her and to get a truly fresh start, I had to start completely from scratch, she left me with absolutely nothing, I moved to Illinois, I have a daughter out here and the hope was to be able to create a fresh start, and use that energy to be a better father, but I very rapidly found the economy out here is in the toilet, I'm heading back to Colorado mid February and scrambling to figure out what I'm going to do, I've never been this close to homeless in my entire life, I guess everything has a breaking point
