One thing to consider is a plug outlet on the outside of the building and even maybe a faucet outlet as well. A lot of people don't think about that when electricians install

Pretty slick. If I got one of those I would pop the windows and frame them three to four inches out, add three to four inches of rockwool over the siding, ad moisture barrier, one inch furring strips and metal, cement, or even cedar siding. That and 16 inch eaves and a solid foundation and it could be pretty comfortable.

Very interesting walk around it looks like they have every intention of producing a top quality product. Especially the overhang on the Gable ends that gets the water away from the building. The only additional thing I would do is give the building a coat of primer paint, patch and caulk after that and then put a finish coat of paint over all of that. A very large extra step that will add to the cost.

Looks like a nice shed, probably better than most. Many shed companies offer different levels of sheds as far as construction and finish. I would assume this is this companies top of the line with the overhangs and windows etc... I saw a few things I would to do to improve the model he showed. I would want my rafters on 16" centers not 24". Also, there was No mention of insulating the floor. In cold weather a cold floor is not comfortable at all if you plan to make a cabin out of it. He mentioned the double studs which are a good idea but they are usually done because that is where the joint of the siding is made and that makes it easier to ensure the nails hit a stud. It also hides any daylight that might shine through where the sheets of siding butt together. Again not a bad idea but it is mostly a builders trick than a benefit for the customer. Overall a nice looking shed and again better than most sheds out there.

I really love this way of living but the biggest thing I've seen since this "Tiny House" idea has swept the nation was the idea of Smaller footprint and COST to Debt ratio. So when these Companies/Builders get involved you start seeing prices that just put us right back up to what the whole purpose was to avoid. Just my 2cents =)
@BetterTogetherLife

I am sorry Jason, by that is just not true. Companies like United are able to get WAY better prices on lumber, metal roofing, and other supplies. They can pass that onto you for the savings. AND, they incur the cost of any mistakes. If you have never built anything like this.....you WILL make mistakes. And those mistakes will be very costly. Just buy a good quality shed shell and then finish it yourself. Or..... like me, take United’s DIY package and get a great jumpstart!! 😁😁😁 www.goupb.com/ad/shed-to-studio

Do your research and you won't make mistakes! Your only mistake is trying to turn something that was meant to be a shed into something that it was not meant to be in the first place! There's a reason alot of places won't let these wannabe houses pass code! Just build a small house and be done with it. You'll be better off in the long run, and much, much happier! Trying to save a few bucks usually ends up costing people way more in the long run.

Nice shed. But what was so funny when wify poo came in? The owner kept mentioning "Drops"?? What was he referring to? Outlets? What was so hilarious about that? I noticed the big electrical panel and understand why they have it since it's going to be a house. But what if you have a small shed and just want to put in a couple of outlets and an overhead light and you just want to connect it up from your main house's outlet with an extension cord. Is there any type of outlet at the shed where you can plug an extension cord into instead of an elaborate circuit panel? Pigtail an end of a heavy duty extension cord at the shed you can tap into or is there a special type of "reverse" outlet to run the cord into? Also how about connecting a garden hose to the shed for water ?

At 12 minutes when talking about the house wrap, since it is vaulted ceilings the house wrap should be up on the roof too. The only exception there would be if you were going to use a closed cell foam in your ceiling, but then you would likely be foaming your walls too.

I ordered a United Portable shed because of this video and have had several issues. They didn't touch up on site and never replaced missing and/ or broken areas and the middle of floor is unleveled and warped. Possibly the main supporting beam is warped. I cant even put down flooring. I am disappointed with the United Portable and the local authorized dealer.

For Seniors, these are great options when downsizing. I'd rather take one of these than some other thing to live in. Why don't the 12 in on center have the jagged or up / down horizontal break 2x4's between them for stability? Like a normal stick build? Doesn't make sense and makes the structure weaker.
@tomasthomas7407
@tomasthomas7407 3 жыл бұрын
imho, the sheathing gives the stability that you mention. Time is money, so think about extra time to put thise ‘breaks’ in, the extra time to place insulation, the extra ‘headache’ of an owner to work around modifications with ‘hidden unexpected breaks’ … And to marginal BENEFIT ?🤔? 💸💸💸

I'm new to the shed-to-tiny-house world and I'm trying not to make any mistakes. So if I could ask a few questions, that'd be great: 1.) If I install windows in the upstairs loft areas on both ends of my barn-style roof house, do i need to put a gap between the roof and the insulation so that it can have air flow and keep it from forming moisture or will opening the windows every so ofter be enough? 2.) My shed is already built but they didn't do the plastic wrap around the house so that its on the inside of the walls....is that absolutely necessary? Or can i get away with it? 3.) Can I putty the outside nail holes myself if i see any? If yes, then what paint do i need to get to cover it?

Looks pretty good but I wouldn't consider actually living in it without some kind of foundation. Website shows it's just sitting on 4x6 skids, it doesn't even say they put it on blocks much less make piers or something to support the building. If it really sits on 4x6 skids on soil it's a disaster waiting to happen in most areas.
