One thing to consider is a plug outlet on the outside of the building and even maybe a faucet outlet as well. A lot of people don't think about that when electricians install

Pretty slick. If I got one of those I would pop the windows and frame them three to four inches out, add three to four inches of rockwool over the siding, ad moisture barrier, one inch furring strips and metal, cement, or even cedar siding. That and 16 inch eaves and a solid foundation and it could be pretty comfortable.

Very interesting walk around it looks like they have every intention of producing a top quality product. Especially the overhang on the Gable ends that gets the water away from the building. The only additional thing I would do is give the building a coat of primer paint, patch and caulk after that and then put a finish coat of paint over all of that. Why is there no jack studs under the loft floor joists like the one he is touching at 14:12?
@asimplelifewoodworking83183 жыл бұрын
If there is one thing they could do differently is, adding 2x4’s under the 2x6’s supporting the loft. I know the center wall helps but the side walls of the loft the nails are holding the sheer strength and that is not good over time. But over all the shed looks to be a good quality shed.

I'm new to the shed-to-tiny-house world and I'm trying not to make any mistakes. So if I could ask a few questions, that'd be great: 1.) If I install windows in the upstairs loft areas on both ends of my barn-style roof house, do i need to put a gap between the roof and the insulation so that it can have air flow and keep it from forming moisture or will opening the windows every so ofter be enough? 2.) My shed is already built but they didn't do the plastic wrap around the house so that its on the inside of the walls....is that absolutely necessary? Or can i get away with it? 3.) Can I putty the outside nail holes myself if i see any? If yes, then what paint do i need to get to cover it?

Nice shed. But what was so funny when wify poo came in? The owner kept mentioning "Drops"?? What was he referring to? Outlets? What was so hilarious about that? I noticed the big electrical panel and understand why they have it since it's going to be a house. But what if you have a small shed and just want to put in a couple of outlets and an overhead light and you just want to connect it up from your main house's outlet with an extension cord. Is there any type of outlet at the shed where you can plug an extension cord into instead of an elaborate circuit panel? Pigtail an end of a heavy duty extension cord at the shed you can tap into or is there a special type of "reverse" outlet to run the cord into? Also how about connecting a garden hose to the shed for water ?

Hey Jesse! Can you send me an email at bettertogetherlife@gmail.com and I’ll be able to get you set up with them! 😁😁 We are actually about to begin working with United Portable Buildings to help give our viewers excellent customer service and to get the ball rolling with buying your Shed to House or other buildings!!! 😁😁😁 I think we might be able to work something out for GA. It’s possible.

Looks like a nice shed, probably better than most. Many shed companies offer different levels of sheds as far as construction and finish. I would assume this is this companies top of the line with the overhangs and windows etc... I saw a few things I would to do to improve the model he showed. I would want my rafters on 16" centers not 24". Also, there was No mention of insulating the floor. In cold weather a cold floor is not comfortable at all if you plan to make a cabin out of it. He mentioned the double studs which are a good idea but they are usually done because that is where the joint of the siding is made and that makes it easier to ensure the nails hit a stud. It also hides any daylight that might shine through where the sheets of siding butt together. Again not a bad idea but it is mostly a builders trick than a benefit for the customer. Overall a nice looking shed and again better than most sheds out there.

Do you get the permissions needed from the city where the build will happen or does the buyer do that ? When I called the city permit office the guy said to get permission from my neighbor next door and to allow 3 ft. easement so I can maintain the 3 ft. space. But if there's concrete right up to there store fence there would be no maintenance as I can see. What are your thoughts on this ?

How do you make it legal to get power, sewer and other things of that nature to it?

At 12:10 the wall with the window... could that be made in to a prow with windows top to bottom? That’s a must have and If like a stand up loft not a crawl space.

I see no protective metal plates on the studs to prevent someone in the future nailing through drywall/into the stud and making contact with the live electrical wiring. 😟
@shockcoach3 жыл бұрын
You only need nail plates if the holes are 1-1/4” from the face of the stud. They also create bulges in the drywall, so only use when necessary.

Apparently ‘Code’ is a small town in central Wyoming !!! How ‘occupancy’ is ever allowed indicates WHERE these sheds are snuck into…
