We're back with more Street Fighter League (SFL) action. This time, it's team CLG up against Panda. Things were looking grim for CLG when Punk gathered steam, but Samurai had something else to say.

As long as the trash talk is about the play and the game it should not only be ok, it should be encouraged. Fighting games are so much more hype when there's a story to the match and when both people silently walk up, fist bump, play the match, fist bump, and walk off there's no drama. Props to Punk for making that set hype and congrats to Samurai for shutting him up. Great stuff

I think Punks trash talk isn’t toxic (most of the time atleast lol) he keeps everything in-game and never escalates beyond that. However, I think in this particular case, Samurai probably felt punk was ‘punching down’ since he has kind of taken the guardianship role of team CLG (which is comprised of all young guns of the community right) so Punk brought out the teacher in Samurai protecting his students. Overall, i think this was a totally entertaining and acceptable confrontation lol
@Ub3rMario
@Ub3rMario Жыл бұрын
I definitely think there's some subtlety in what every individual thinks is respectable popoff vs disrespectful. Context is important. I think Samurai might say it's totally fine to popoff and say you are the best and prop yourself up for what you did/do, but saying the opponent sucks or insulting them is not okay. In other words, talk yourself up instead of put someone else down. Personally I think Punk was certainly a bit more disrespectful in this instance, but I don't think he was particularly egregious. Though in the after interview, Samurai said that we couldn't hear a lot of extra stuff Punk was saying off the mic was much worse. Is that the truth? I don't know, but if it is then it makes sense why Samurai said what he said.

@@Ub3rMario Point taken and understood, however i would slightly disagree in regards to trash talk and argue that it’s totally acceptable to throw insults at an opponent as long as it stays about the game. For example, clowning someone for failing to block a wake-up DP for the 4th time to get in their head and effect their performance is ok. But insulting someone’s physical appearance, culture or race to accomplish the same goal is not ok. This is the FGC after all, friendly trash talk and banter is part of the fun and a legit tactic of it’s own when it comes to the game. Learning how to have thick enough skin to brush of such tactics can be valuable, not just in game but in life as well. I do acknowledge that it can be a slippery slope at times but people are just abit too sensitive nowadays in my humble opinion

@@jordanj118 Yeah i wasn't saying I agree with Samurai, I just stated people draw the line in different ways and I could see someone defining it like how I described. But like i said, Samurai indicated (not in this video) that there was a lot more Punk said that wasn't on the mic, so i can only assume it must have been way more offensive than what we saw. I agree with you personally that what we DID see wasn't that bad but maybe just a little more annoying/disrespectful than his usual hijinx.

really? thats more of a chant. like in sports, where you cheer your team when they do something good. if you've never played sports, its foreign but cheering for your team is normal which is what they did. trash talking is a bit different. that's like a HS pitcher striking out someone and then turning to the opposite dugout saying "no one can hit me, i'm on another league." thats different. what CLG did was the equivalent of "way to rip that shot" when a teammate gets on base.

No. It’s cheering their teammate not ahir talking their opponent. There is a difference. Seriously, you should read it. Secondly, he's just popping off after a stressful win lmao. You're making it seem as though he's throwing desks around and slapping his opponent. Lastly, you should watch a KZbinr called Ranton, to educate yourself on all of the ways in which terms and ideas such as "zen" are misunderstood.

@@Cezkarma My comment is a response to the title of the video. I'm actually kind of surprised you managed to click it without even accidentally reading it. Should I bother suggesting that you try not to be offended by what you're misapprehending as being talked down to? Is that how you feel about your favorite authors? Perhaps they're just conveying information in a way that isn't needlessly simplified and protracted. As for your last comment, no thanks-you and I both understand perfectly well that the conversation was working from a popular understanding of the word. A good juncture to suggest not obsessing over vernacular in the same post where you accuse someone of obsessing over vernacular, but I doubt it'll stop you.

he sure had fun beating his ass tho. saw that popoff? this is the perfect display of egoism vs altruism. you can apply it on, let's say school. let's just take his example. it's a good one. you say "look at the bully enjoying his moments. he should keep doing that". he is putting down others for his personal, fleeting moments. the teacher hates to see others be long term unhappy because of it. ofc he is not happy. but he himself is not the problem. he cares about others and as long as there is someone actively destroying peace for his loved ones, ofc he will look unhappy to you and as the loser of this scenario, because in this moment, he had to fight for peace. but this particular event is everything you see and not everything there is. you don't get to live a life in harmony and true joy, because you are trying to be the bully's sidecharacter, who needs selfish moments like this to feel like he is someone at least in this moment. this is not what you need to enjoy the game, as you implied. this is something you need, when you have an inferiority complex (ofc in the long run, this isn't what you need in that case either) - just to show you a different perspective. i could keep writing an essay about this topic. it's too deep to fit in 10 youtube comments probably. very interesting to me. tldr would be: you want to (not even have to, because nobody can demand that from you, but ultimately everyone want's to, even punk) create a peaceful environment, where everyone is welcome. punk is working against that, but you can't really blame or judge anyone. not even punk

Am I the only one who believes the trash talk from Punk was directly proportional to the infinitely annoying cheer from CLG? They bring their obnoxiousness full steam, then Punk trash talks Chris as a direct response (plus he brings EVO as a plus). It’s a fair tit for tat. I generally root against Punk because I’m not fond of his trash talk, but CLG is so obnoxious that when Punk shut them up, it was like music to my ears. And Samurai is all like “these are kids and bullying is bad and bla bla bla” and I’m like dude, get a mirror: your team is the bully - get out of here 🙄
