Dan Blocker is my favorite actor on Bananza. I was a child when I heard on the radio that he died and I cried.

I worked with somebody that knew Dan from HS in the Texas Panhandle area. I don't remember the exact town but closer to Lubbock than Amarillo. What I remember him saying was that he was a bit of a Hell Raiser in the way of practical jokes. But not somebody you wanted to fight with.

This feud has bothered me for 40 years to the point I can’t sleep glad this video cleared it up

Can I just say I am grateful we got to have Dan as long as we did. He and Alan Hale Jr (The Skipper) were prime examples of how a man could be both strong and caring at once.

My step mother's family, last name of Stidham, was kin to the Blocker family. They owned a ranch north of Del Rio, near Comstock and Langtry Texas. Mr. Stidham got his start as a foreman on the King Ranch before buying his personal ranch . My dad was a Border Patrolman stationed in Comstock Texas, back in the sixties...and was where he met my stepmother.

It's not hard to see why. Pernell Roberts was a self over-rated cry baby who took himself way too seriously. You can see it in his acting style; always over emphasizing his "seriousness" in blatant contrast to his co stars right there in the opening credits. It's laughable and the mark of a bad actor. He thought he could get acting parts after he literally walked off the set. Incredible arrogance and the biggest over inflated ego of any Hollywood idiot now or since. Aside from Trapper John MD; he spent his remaining career pretending to not regret anything. He did a bad job acting that too.

It seems to me many actors of old got lucky and found TV fame quickly making them feel they were artistic geniuses . They would get out of the show that made them and find that they couldn't find work "worthy" of their greatness .. Most faded away.

Roberts was just like his character Adam, & even though he was a pain behind the scenes, his character as created was a crucial 4th balancing element to the Cartwright family, & the show's dynamic was forever ruined when Roberts left, even though it successfully went on without him.

Like most, I adored Hoss - however, I never cared for Adam who also seemed to think he was better than anyone else. Pernell Roberts leaving was not a bad thing overall. However, the loss of Dan Blocker was devastating.

Pernell is supposed to have said that he quit Bonanza because he thought it was stupid for 3 grown men to still be living with Pa and not getting out and having a life of their own. I can believe that. The 'boys' fell in love a bunch of times but it seems the woman always died. That's all I remember anyway. LOL OTOH, Ben went thru 3 wives himself. And a child from each. That's kind of scary, don't you think? My dad watched it and called it Banana.
