BYU fan here, i have always been sad Jacob never found his footing here in Provo. i remember when he committed and i was very excited, i knew he wouldn’t play immediately but i was confident and eager for the next coming seasons that he would play and be very good. i really wish it worked out for him here, i wish him nothing but the best at Utah State🙏

I remember the battle between Zach Wilson and Conover back in 2020 and no matter how good Conover was honestly the way Zach is able to light up an offense with his confidence and arm can get all 11 guys going 100%. Hopefully Zach can be a comeback quarterback and Conover can figure it out up at USU. Honestly though with the mess of an athletic department they have right now. He's going to be figuring it out on his own.

I was super excited when Jacob committed to BYU. He turned down some massive names to sign with us. He has good size and a big arm, but he could never quite figure out the offense and his throwing motion was always iffy.

Jacob is a great kid. Played with my son at the Poly Bowl in Hawaii and was easily the best QB there which included Taulia Tagovailoa and Gunner Cruz. Not sure what happened , but I hope that he succeeds because he is hard working, good kid.

6:53 A little correction: Gunnar Romney was Conover's teammate at Chandler and BYU who played WR. Gunnar's cousin, Baylor Romney, played QB at BYU, but was never on a different team with Conover. You seemed to mix up the two Romney cousins a couple times.

He'll have his shot next year for sure and maybe even this year. It is a well staffed QB room and Petras really hasn't lived up to the hype. Barnes is probably the 2nd QB right now and the one that I would put in instead of Petras, but what do I know. Hopefully Petras can settle down, find the open targets, and start getting the ball out faster because it seems like this staff is going to be sticking with him through thick and thin. Admittedly though, he does have a good arm, and has shown that he can make some really good throws at times. We are currently at 1-5 but the really tough teams "should" be behind us. All of them (Petras, Barnes, Conover, and Tiller) likely came to USU to be coached by Blake Anderson and look how that panned out. We'll see how this year goes and if any of them will be here next year, we know Petras won't as his eligibility is done after this season. However, we all know that Barnes (Utah), Conover (BYU), and Tiller (Boise) all upgraded substantially to a better school and place to live :D. Unfortunately, they walked into a bit of a shit show on the Football team, but we are glad to have them.

I played soccer my freshman year of college before going on a mission and had a bright future. Fast forward two years and I still played another two years in college after my mission, but I was noticeably worse. I have since left the Mormon church and has a bit of resentment towards the church for the insinuation that you will be "blessed" for going on a mission and should never put it off for something so "worldly" as sports. I wonder if Conover will have similar sentiments in the future (if not already).

I ish him the best. BYU fans often highlight his Bama offer. Little known fact that Bama offer was rescinded, and not because he seemed like a lock to go to BYU. If I understand correctly he was offered as a sophomore, and it was pulled as a JR.

As important as serving a mission is to LDS members, it is the real world truth that missions are not conducive to becoming a great player. It is what it is. I will never criticize a young man for serving a mission, but there are consequences to making that important decision.
