Kid Rock is stating FACTS!!! My generation's motto was "Sex, Drugs and Rock n Roll", and the millennials motto is "I need a safe space, while I figure out which bathroom to use". These kids have been wrapped in bubble wrap and taught that they are the center of the universe. That is how we got a bunch of designer clothes wearing, ivy league college, Starbucks sipping kids bitching on Twitter about how "oppressed" they are, how this is the worst country in the world, on their brand new I Phones. It is ironic & stupid enough that most of us did not see the true threat this subculture really was. Honestly I am more than a little afraid for my grand kids future. Afraid that they will never know freedom of expression, or thought, much less speech. America is not perfect, she has some shameful pages in her history book, but I would challenge these millennials to travel to hell, 3/4 of the country s on earth, and they would learn about true oppression, still alive and well there. The thing about living in the past is that you miss the present, and you can not see the path forward. It is time for us to honor the past by teaching the next generation the good, the bad and the ugly parts of our history, That way we do not repeat it, and we continue to learn from it, so that we can evolve as a country towards a place of love and respect for all of the ways we are the same, and the ways that we are all different. In my opinion anyway.

I started bumping Kid Rock in '98, after his album 'Devil Without a Cause' came out. He used to do pure old-school style hip-hop, and then he started blending rock/funk/country/etc. That album was pretty much the pinnacle of his sound for me. He blew up after that, with 6 singles off that album. He's always had that swag/style. Also, both him and Em grew up pretty rough in Detroit, and rep it fully. Both hit fame around the same time too. He's just as much a rapper as he is a rocker, as y'all have said. I definitely recommend you check out his 'Devil Without a Cause' stuff. Still the best he's got, for me. I was bumping both Marshall Mathers LP and DwaC back then (about age 14), and they were both pretty "hardcore", not-giving-a-f**k albums. Em and him are technically buddies, but they do have different views on things, namely the country/politics. Singles off DwaC include: "Cowboy"--"Bawitdaba"--"I Am the Bullgod"--"Welcome 2 the Party (Ode 2 the Old School)"--"Devil Without a Cause (ft. Joe C)"--"Wasting Time"--and the more country-themed, "Only God Knows Why" that you guys have caught already. HIGHLY recommend. This track is a great callback to that album, fo shooo. If you haven't heard any of those yet, check 'em out.

@mattvsmetaverse2 жыл бұрын
@@machavellicheese5556 Who cares? Like that somehow discredits him from talking or being about it? Even if he came up rich, how does that have any bearing on his perspective? You can still have friends who grew up rough. You can still learn perspective, so who are you to judge him by that? Is he in control of how he was raised? And you don't know the struggles he's been through. Just because you have money, doesn't mean you don't have struggle. You assume so much by just saying what you said. It's a classist statement. Whether you're rich or poor, you can still speak truth. Doesn't mean you're a fraud for not talking about rich shit. Ryan Upchurch has millions, but we still see him living his life the way he always did. Who's to say that's not the life most suited to Kid Rock? You can have millions and still live humbly. You can have millions and not be materialistic. As far as I'm concerned, Rock is far more "street" than most of these cats today. At the very least, he understands it. You don't see us country boys calling him on his BS, and you don't see the OGs calling him on his street cred. That's because he's authentic. I came from both circles, much like Rock. I would know if it was for show.
@mattvsmetaverse2 жыл бұрын
@@machavellicheese5556 Well, you seemed like you had the objective of discrediting him, despite the fact that you say you don't. The behavior doesn't match up with the words. So, you can't be miffed I misinterpreted it when you give me mixed signals. And you could "speak on experiences"? Why mention that if you don't at least KINDA have the goal of discrediting him? You seem hung up on it. And even still, those are YOUR personal experiences. They could've never happened (not saying that though), for all I know, so I can't make a call one way or the other from your personal experiences. But I can say that I grew up in Detroit, and have stories of my own regarding Kid Rock that tell me different. Regardless of all of that, you're still missing the main point: none of that should matter anyway. Why would it make him more authentic to be poor? It's just a weird, absolutist interpretation to have, and not true. That's all I'm saying. As far as opinion and personal taste go, knock yourself out. I'm 100% about personal preference. I just don't see how Kid Rock growing up poor would make him any more authentic. It's not like he raps about growing up poor. I'd have a different opinion of him then, because he would be misrepresenting himself (inauthentic). Your initial point/observation had nothing to do with personal preference.

Kid Rock and Rev Run toured together back in 08 when he released Rock n Roll Jesus. Dickey Betts the guitarist from the Allman brothers also. It was a 3 hour show, I caught it in Biloxi MS. 1 hour of his stuff then some Southern rock with Bettis then another hour with Rev Run including Kid on the turntables straight killin it for 15 minutes straight. They were staying at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino as were we. I actually got to tt Rev for a bit as well (I'm from North Jersey) we actually played poker at the same table. I was witness to the birth of hip hop with Cool Herc Afrika Bambatta as of course Grand Master Flash. Kid came into the bar in the lobby around 2am with an acoustic guitar and played all morning long. What a weekend! And I don't wanna name drop but I've personally met and chilled with with ALOT of 80s rappers cause I grew up there. Queen Latifa,Treach, Lauren Hill and one of the funniest men I've ever met The Biz himself may he RIP just to name a few. Growing up there at the birth must be what people must have felt like hearing Elvis and the Beatles for the first time in the 50s and 60s
