Had a talk with an oral surgeon yesterday. He told me scope is there in onco but for that there is lots and lots of hardwork and patience needed. One needs to go to rural areas for more patient exposure which means settling for less income . Even after fellowship you can only assist ur seniors and cannot independently do surgery for some years. In short, its a long journey and the income you spoke may come at a very very late stage.

Any onco SURGERY can't be done alone. U need a maxillofacial surgeon, a plastic surgeon to harvest a graft eg: a thigh graft for instance, an anesthesiologist. And obviously becoming a surgeon is no piece of cake for anyone who thought just bcoz u take bds and then have omfs as an option u can easily become a surgeon. A surgery as well as as a maxillofacial surgeon needs to put in years of efforts before the peak comes but once it's comes there's only North...
