I miss the old At The Gates,😔 old Anathema 😔 old My Dying Bride 😔

These were the days I remember. I saw Anathema with Darren and My Dying Bride in London at the Dome around the same time. It was a 10 band gig called the Day Of Death (or something) and featured a very young Cradle Of Filth without makeup!!!! I miss those days
@DaniRaj6668 жыл бұрын
2 best metal bands of that year in the same show, purely awesome. Anathema and My Dying Bride were so unique, brilliant, original, powerful, creative in those years. I had never heard anything like that made before and not much after. Talented guys that made it as musicians and still tour and perform. Happy for them. I think I saw My Dying Bride 1995 with Cathedral, and then the second time 2008. Anathema I missed and saw first and only time 2014. Paradise Lost was pretty decent and entertaining band at those times, saw them about 4 times, once with Sepultura.

Some great music and headbanging in this clip. Anathema ATG and MDB definitely inspired me to grow the hair out in my younger days \m/ Edit: I love the ramped up version of Sleepless here by Anathema. The album version is great for sure, but the notched up tempo really suits the body of the song and the solo. Truly a unique moment in the history of this band and ATG/MDB \m/

@@TheReincarnatedDeath hell yeah man. I have a pic somewhere from my early 20s where you’d mistake me for Vincent from Anathema 😅 maybe it’s time to grow it out again. Listening to Serenades and Pentecost III right now \m/

@TheReincarnatedDeath I have started a European Headbangers Ball group on Facebook back in June in order to find people that have FULLY COMPLETE episodes and stuff. Found 30+ episodes this year and I have the feeling that 2025 will be even better for finding FULL shows. Do you have any other FULLY COMPLETE episodes apart from this one ?

Good question! I think he wasn't into the lighter doom direction the band went into. He went on to form The Blood Divine with some ex-Cradle of Filth members.

It was not in 1994 but in 1993! I had it on my VHS recorded from MTV. But the truth is only one: it was only true Anathema style, with Darren as a vocalist. Death/doom sounds, heavy and gloomy music with harsh vocals. I stopped listening to Anthema when I heard poor 'Silent Enigma' album. I wish they back to the sounds from early 90's

Vincents growls on The Silent Enigma, at least as competently as Darren. I actually quite like his growl. It's not as deep but it's harsher and in some ways more powerful

@@crushedinfamy Darren worked reasonably well on vocals, but Vincent is the perfect guy for Anathema, in every era of the band. Should have been him from the start.
