Thanks for the video. I’ve been going nuts over my coolant light coming on every 30 mins to an hour. finally took to a shop and they did the same block test and the fluid turned yellow.

Thanks for taking the time to provide this information. Not a lot of 5th gen stuff out there yet. I just did head studs on my '19 to hopefully prevent what you just went through. I was looking for information about installing the rocker arms back onto a hydraulic roller lifter Cummins and couldn't find much. You delivered. Thanks again! BTW, those 10mm rocker arm bolts are torque to yield so I replaced mine with ARP rocker pedestal studs. I did a "hot re-torque" and found the OEM 10mm bolts spongy after going through several torque cycles so that's why I researched it and decided to play it safe with ARP studs.

Whats the part # for your rocker arm studs?
@4wdiesels7 ай бұрын
@davebass69 ARP 247-7201. If you were only in there once or twice, the stock ones are probably fine but like I mentioned, mine felt spongy after the 3rd time off so I replaced out of fear of possibly breaking one!

You can get the same results from a bad EGR cooler which is most common to fail on these “5th” gen Rams.

My block test just went yellow on my used ram 1500. Hardly got the chance to enjoy the truck. Had it for 4 months… im a bit stuck in a state of disbelief right now… 60,000 for issues. Due to all my problems, i have a lemon law case going .

Thank you for the video. You put a lot of time into this. You drove home the point that I won't be tackling this job. You clearly have this background and the shop to do the job. Is your Cummins the standard output or the high output version? Thanks.
@robandnikki12 жыл бұрын
I is the standard with the 68TFE trans. But, fyi, it wasn’t the head gasket that was blown. It was the EGR Cooler that was leaking internally. Before anyone tackles this job, please remove and get the EGR Cooler (if not deleted) test by a radiator shop. I could have fixed this in a few hours of work.

Did you delete or replace egr?
@robandnikki1 Жыл бұрын
@@AC-hr6ml I replaced the EGR cooler with an entire EGR system I ordered from Amazon. It came with all EGR parts on the engine. This saved me money when my RGR Valve went out. For the cost one part, you can get all of the parts with almost no use on them because people bought the truck and deleted it all immediately
@AC-hr6ml Жыл бұрын
@Funding Zen I just deleted mines truck runs better now and better gas mileage as well

Did you clean out your EGR system 1st or did you have a issue that it had to be replaced? We are having the same issue

The new Cummins must be junk blowing head gaskets

You should know that someone (false name) connected with me on a dating site with four pictures of you that aren’t online anywhere else. Did my due diligence and found the real you. Rather disappointing, since you seem like a decent guy (good looking too, hah). Anyway, have a nice day.

19 with a bad head?!?!?
@robandnikki1 Жыл бұрын
It ended up being the EGR Cooler instead of the head gasket. All of the symptoms are the same. I should have gotten the EGR Cooler checked first. But at least I got it studded so the head gasket should never go out with the type of loads I pull

@@robandnikki1 ahhhh I see. Thanks for the reply I really appreciate that. I have been going crazy over here. I have a 22 and people have been saying the motors blow right around 100k

@@dillongriggs4564 Buy the kit to see if hydrocarbons are in the radiator fluid. Simultaneously get an oil sample analysis done. The hydrocarbon test will see if exhaust is getting into the coolant. That will indicate either a head gasket or EGR cooler leak. Those are the only two places where exhaust mixes closely with coolant. Oil sample will tell you type and amount of metal which can be indicative of broken metal
