I have this tractor but it's a 1864 with power steering. Thank you for showing us the steps to change the head gaskets. A big job for me but very appreciative that you took your time and skill. The immense knowledge needed to repair reminds me to always check fluid levels and use the manufacturers required oil. Thank you.

Finally, an upright model; I was beginning to think that my engine was installed sideways. Very well put together video; very informative.

I have this same job ahead of me. Where did you get all the specs from? Also, nice video!

I found a service manual online. Wasn’t too bad of a job, definitely check the heads for flatness, I think I would have been doing it again if I hadn’t taken care of that. Its been running good since the repair.

@BlackDogGarage mine had a sputtering hissing sound (i think that was exhaust leaking from heads). I hope its nothing more than restoring the heads and nothing in the bottom end.

This is a CH25S correct? I'm having issues finding head gaskets. Mine looks like identical engine and the sticker is too worn to see exact engine model. I did a search to what engine came on a 2001 John Deere Ztrak m665 and found CH25S but even on jacksengines the model # is coming up with nothing. Thanks in advance.

@BlackDogGarage thanks. It looks identical from video . Not a lot of info on these horizontal engines with shaft on both sides. Other than videos, my JD zero turn is the 1st mower I ever seen with this style. Your video will help me a lot. Thnx again

@@dgmenace73 I have a CV730 they all look a lot a like. When I bought new head gaskets for mine, it listed something like 14 Kohler engines that use the same head/intake/exhaust gaskets as well. I highly recommend a good power wash BEFORE you take apart, trust me you will still need to do some clean up work. Just like this gentleman, the power wash makes life much easier. Good luck.
