In this episode, Beckett and Simon compare two heavy hitting strings in the Signum Pro Firestorm vs. Head Lynx Tour.
With the Firestorm being used by Berrettini, and Lynx Tour being used by Thiem, these strings have the confidence of the pros. But what did we think about them?

I tried them both as well and have a reel of Head Lynx Tour champagne as that suits most of my racquets as I'm an 18x20 user. Signum Pro Firestorm for the Extreme Tour brings the best out of the racquet at around 50-52lbs while Lynx Tour should be strung

One problem with this test is the rackets. Gravity Pro is more powerful than Extreme Tour. Gravity Pro has higher swingweight, twistweight and bigger sweetspot with more power. The Extreme is build more for spin than the Gravity. Therefore it makes very good sense that the Lynx Tour is better suited for Gravity Pro than the Extreme. Also the Lynx Tour needs to be stringed at 1-2 pounds lower than the Firestorm.

Hi Beckett, which lynx tour did you test with? I tried both the grey and champagne on ET. Didn’t like the grey. Felt that the champagne had better ball pocketing and slightly more controlled and less pingy.

Firestorm is a round poly with mediocre spin potential while lynx tour has sharp edges that produces logically more spin with a higher launch angle. Works great in denser string patterns at low tension. IMO Lynx Tour offers more Control, Spin and tension maintenance... it's not very comfortable, wouldn't recommend for beginners or physically weak players but u can string it at low tensions without sacrificing much control... ;)

Hey Beckett ! What do u personnaly like best between the solinco confidential and the signum pro firestorm? What are the differences in term of playability, comfort and access to topspin? Knowing that i have the type of game that relies on topspin , wich one do u think I should go for ? Knowing that I’m from France and the reel of signum pro firestorm coast only 70 bucks and the reel of confidential coast 130 bucks !

I prefer confidential by a decent margin. Better control, spin, tension maintenance. Firestorm has more power and a more connected feel. I'd say Confidential is more like an RPM Blast replacement and Firestorm an ALU Power replacement.

@Le-Chuck
@Le-Chuck Жыл бұрын
@@nicholasvasconcelos5316 hi. The 4s has more confort, dwell Time, spin, progressiveness than the lynx tour and 4s is playable right after thé stringer so I like it way more. The lynx tour needs a 1hour breaking period to settle in which can be annoying. The departement where the lynx tour wins is durability. After months, I don t play with the lynx tour anymore. 4s is better even if I have to restring more.

@@TennCom Thanks for the honest reply. I'm currently demoing it and I personally like it due to the fact that it maneuvers like a 300g racket but feels more like a 305g one instead. I have also found it to be comfortable at the net as it gives lots of feedback and great at producing spin also. My main gripe is that the openness of the string pattern makes it hard to control (also probably because I'm used to 98 sq inch rackets). I know that you haven't tried it, but if you had to guess - yours is probably better than mine, then what racket would allow for more control without neccesarily sacrificing the other attributes too much? Thanks and have a nice day

@sjjapp
@sjjapp Жыл бұрын
I find it rather odd that Signum Pro Firestorm is often viewed as a powerful poly. I personally do not find it overly powerful, but perhaps my criteria for what power is could be different. It definitely launches more than most polys. Specifically, it pushes it higher and therefore potentially further than the majority of polys I've tested. I do not consider this power though. Power for me is how much I can limit the time it takes from contact to my opponent. In this sense, I do not find Firestorm to be massively powerful for a poly at all. It's definitely not slow for a poly either, but numerous big names like ATP Razor Code, Ice Code, RPM blast, cyclone, RPM Blast, and so on I find to be significantly more powerful in the effective sense. They also offer more of a certain type of control as well (directional control). The reason I use firestorm is because I specifically like how it launches and I feel very connected to it. I understand it so to speak. And I feel comfortable with it under pressure. I get extra margin for error with it thanks to that higher launch angle. And very strangely, despite not offering the most bite, I love how easy it is to rev the ball with it. I get a lot of topspin with this string. What it lacks in bite it's obviously making up in some other way. It's also the string choice of Berrettini who has actually topped Nadal at times in forehand RPMs in various data. I find it to be very similar to Alu Power, my previous string, which I used for similar reasons. Re Firestorm power, I've tested it using my own findings when I'm swinging it and then when sparring partners have used it. I noticed improved consistency with baseline pressure when others have used it. Less effective power but more consistent depth and height. Perhaps this is causing some confusion. Same with lower tensions, where the lower you go the higher the stringbed launches. This can lead to easier depth and height, and quite often this is misinterpreted as being more powerful.

@@TennCom exactly. It’s very durable. Very consistent unlike hyper g for example. It’s a string that combines the byte/crispness of shaped strings but it also plays and feels like a controllable round poly. It’s not too shaped and too round….it’s the only string that made me switch after 6 years with 4G. A very controversial string too but that is another discussion. And to all of that let’s add that LT also offers enough pop and power. Seriously the only fault of this string is it’s weight….. 1.25 is almost like 1.28. Thick and heavy. Another great string i am been testing these days and came out of nowhere is yonex rev….. it’s like rpm blast without tension drop….but ball slips a lot. Not enough byte like tour sniper.

Ive tried lynx tour and is just too stiff for my taste. I’ve been playing with the Tecnifibre black code and I found home. I string my own rackets and I’ve tried most common brands but they are either too stiff or too muted for my taste. Tecnifibre black code comes in different gauges and colors and so far the orange color is the softest one, and thus have the best pop and ball pocketing. The 17g(1.24) is my favorite one. I play with the head extreme tour too with customization. I found 52lb to be a sweet spot for me but I tried 45lb and found in love with the angles I got playing at lower tensions. However if you are a flat hitter playing with 52-54 is best. If I have one your guys PO Boxes I could send you a set of my own inventory. Love the content!
