I think we need to teach you to use double knots on your laces, or to tape them! BTW, it can be amazingly difficult to stay on course when you have little cliff walls everywhere, as well when you try to link together little patches of bare rock. I noticed that you had less issues with direction when you ignored the grey and ran along marshes or any linear details.

That's true but the marshes (and even the yellow) was much heavier to run in than it looked due to rain so i instinctively ran to the nearest rocks which threw off my direction, also doesn't help that I'm not really used to compass running since most of west norway orienteering is finding the easiest way through very heavy terrain instead of running straight on. And yes i need to learn how to properly tie my shoes 😅

Just watched this run...I can say I do not envy you with the type of terrain you have to navigate in Western Europe...I uploaded my first video...which I am still working on the O map integration...that shows our forest types... Along those lines, what programs do you use to generate the live action run tracking data on the Top left of the screen? Thanks. By the way...there are small spring clamp devices called “Cord locks” that capture laces and require no tying...I was tying my own laces wrong for many decades...and only in the last 6 years revised my method...They only get loose now when running thru brambles and briars...

I watched a bit of your video and it definitively was a bit hard to follow without a map on screen, I made my own python scripts with generates the stats and map route from the fit file from my watch and add it all together in a video editor, but i would probably recommend "Headcam Orienteering" (kzbin.info/www/bejne/lYeoZamBqKqHhbM) which i think does most of the work for you and even adds stats. As for shoe laces i started taping the loose ends because i got tired of trying to tie them and there's A LOT of undergrowth here that will undo your laces (not as much in this video but its usually pretty bad).

Thanks for your reply. It was quite a struggle to Find a program to compile the multiple GoPro Files which were made by the camera. I was hoping I could import my livelox video into the video compiler to merge the two. I may end up having to use some other apps that Terje and other people say which is the quickroute. Turns out my biggest hurdle was that I made a new orienteering channel...and because it wasn’t verified...yt failed my upload after FOUR HOURS to tell the file was too large! There are two tricks to lace tying. Firstly is to make sure that they are long enough to leave 3 to 4 inch tails that can be tucked under the crossed portions...(your shoes look like they might be too narrow, the eyelets should not be that far apart) the second is to practice making a square knot with two lines...then pushing the ends back thru...then transfer that technique to the shoe but removing the second step...ending up with a bowtied square knot...good luck on your future events...and I will try to make better videos... it if you listen to my commentary..it was the equivalent of 105deg F...and I didn’t have much hydration...not nearly as comfortable as that cold mountaintop with all those nice cool ponds of water to take a swim in!
