That last one was genius! I love the ability to change the feathers out, and it must make it easier to pack up without damaging the feathers.

Wow! I just found your site! I love feathers and this video gives me so many ideas to create my doll headpieces. I work with recycled items to design clothing and accessories for My Size Barbie Doll (36"/38" tall) and Frozen My Size Elsa/Frozen My Size Anna dolls (38" tall). You have opened up a whole new world for my dolly designs.

OMG! So many great ideas and fabulous examples of your work. I am making a headdress for a costume that I wear into the ocean at something called the Lobster Dip here in Maine on New Years Day, so I need it to be lightweight but over the top. The foam core is a great idea and I'm heading to Michael's now for more glittery sticks (feathers won't work). Thank you so much!

I love your tutorials I did something similar for a headdress only instead of making a duct tape cap I used to felt one and what that consisted of was going to party supply store I think I got it the dollar store last time a felted party hat they're normally kind of a fuzzy thin hat I got a bowler Style that fits me I have a big head 4 someone a little more dainty than me you can cut out a little wedge and then Stitch it tighter or even tape it on someone bigger you can just cut a line to open it up. Bit in back and add a Little Tape on the inside and out. Nice part is the fet does Change to fit you a Bit Just trim off the Brim to make my own again out of felt I have a pattern for a fitted hat that's like three pieces and super easy to make And if i want it Stiff i have Heads like yours to shape over. I also got a Glass lady head for 899 at ross and a Male Skull one thats a Larger size I use these a lot to Put head dresses on when i work. I also got a Mannequin with a Smooth head shape So i can work on Shoulders and Neck lines at same time In the PAST i used a Childs dollor store Knight helmet or the Army one its plastic but if you dont have a Head to work on and just need something A childs Helmet taped onto a large can of spaghetti sause can do... Ive also done when the Head dress was a sheer organza Taken a clear plastic ziplock container and made a base from a Ring of that (think Glenda the good witch) My point is That whatever you have You can make work! If you watch the Film lost in space they cut open an actors costume underneath Shrink wrap and Ducttape.

Hi Karma. Thank you and thanks for watching. The blue headdress with the big face was 1/4 inch foam core. You can get big sheets of it at the hobby store or any place that does framing. Good luck at your pageant!

@thevictoriousone3597 жыл бұрын
Like the backpack? I don't know if you understand what I mean? But yeah the thing on your back lol
@SharonShareAlike7 жыл бұрын
Hi Victorious. I made the back piece the same way I made the head piece. It was one piece of the foam core that I painted, decorated and sewed the elastic through for the feathers. The only difference was I threaded some elastic though the foam core to make loops that I could put my arms through. This held the foam piece on my shoulders just like a backpack. You can put some feather boa on the elastic to hide it. I hope this helps.

Thank you. Fantastic tutorial! Do you have a tip for keeping the headdress secure on the head... just to be sure it's not falling off during a performance?
@SharonShareAlike8 жыл бұрын
If you make the cap part surround a lot of your head as opposed to sitting on top of your head, it stays on well. Sometimes I also take duct taped rolled with the sticky side out, and put them on the inside of the cap to help it stick to my head.

can u please do a tutorial for the face headdress would love to do it for my daughter carnival project
@SharonShareAlike8 жыл бұрын
Hi Arianne. I made the face headdress the same as the one in this video. The cap is the same and I also used the same foam core for the entire thing. It just has a fold in the center. I glued fabric on the fold to act as a hinge. It is a bit more complex but it is not too hard to make. Go to 13:40 and I explain the face in more detail. Sharon
