Porting Progress Update LT1 heads

Gasket matched both Intake and Exhaust fully blended to the bowl.
Bowl cut both Intake and Exhaust to my Percentages and blending started.
Valve guide boss reduction and profiling blended smoothly into the port/bowl.
More information coming as I finish the heads!

albert marquez Honestly you need to ask yourself two questions: Do you need/want the engine to look Factory? If not you’re going to make way more power with a set of aftermarket aluminum heads and avoid detonation easier. Are you wanting to safely run pump gas? There are companies who used to offer CNC porting for d-ports but be warned, 50+ years of rust and corrosion inside the water passages in the head can make the port walls/bowl area quite thin. 😳. It’s a gamble to port your #16 heads, I don’t really do iron heads anymore and I suggest having the ports checked for thickness before porting. If all you needed was gasket matching and guide boss reduction this is something you could do. JD

You said we know who they are in reference to people that just dig into the pushrod pinch... No we don't? And have you ever advertised any numbers for these heads that you do? What kind of flow numbers, Dyno numbers or track times? I'm familiar in the LT1 world and I've never heard of you doing a single set of heads on the forums I'm on but I know very well who does 90% of the LT1 cylinder heads in our community and his work is amazing yet he doesn't do any videos.

viciousrap700 LT1 heads are not very common anymore, I’m more than happy to let the porter you mentioned service the LT1 community. The ports are improved SBC which respond to porting theory and proven percentages. I do port work on many different brands and castings not just the LT1 etc. Any off my heads can be flowed it’s $125.00. JD

HeadFlowInc not common anymore... I guess if you figure them against the millions of LS heads and their countless different castings then no, they aren't that common. However, to those of us that are LTX loyalists we spend our money with those who have proven their worth with performance. No disrespect but I've not seen you prove anything to us and I'm still curious as to whom you were referencing with your remark because cylinder head guys that know LTX engines know them well, know their ports well and know exactly how NOT to screw them up. Gasket matching... It's pretty much a look that fools the unlearned, great LTX head porters don't need to "gasket match" anything to make the head work and by doing that you're pretty much giving the air a longer route of travel before the cross section of the port. We don't have very many aftermarket options unless we're willing to spend a whole lot more money to have standard SBC cylinder heads modified to work with the LTX block. Having said that our people that really know these castings are having no issues developing a port capable of flowing in the 29x CFM at high lift while still maintaining excellent mid-range flow numbers on stock castings and we also have some 3600# heads, cam cars running in the very low 10's n/a and a few that have hit 9's. We may be a minority group these days but we're proud and very picky about who does our work so again, I've not seen what you've proven?

michael walker People who try to glorify themselves by putting down others are only showing the world their true colors. Your statement above speaks volumes if we break it down. 1. When you reference 87% you don’t specify which port or application, this is an incomplete blanket statement of insignificance. 2. “Bowl Cut Percentage” and a “Port Bias” are two completely different areas of the port who join together at or near the valve guide. Keep reading, with time and experience you’ll get there! Thanks for watching good luck! 👍

The turn of the port he complains about not being able to straighten up. first, weld the outside then you have made room for the cut he is limited in knowledge this is a common idea i started a similar prosses in the mid-80s on sbf intakes to straighten up the corner runners
