Big name shops (not all of them, but many) seem to focus more on quantity rather than quality. I got bad work from a shop and it ended costing me tons to remedy all the issues and killed my motivation for modding. Wish I had someone with your knowledge to lend a hand at the time. Glad for your buddy. #Baderbuilt

Sorry for the long response but I’ve got some questions. I’m having a local shop here in Colorado help me build my 2006 WRX! I had head gasket issues and possibly ringland failure starting. I’m not making 650-750whp but my goal is 450whp just was wondering if you the might have some advice for me! I’m really trying do this this right. I’m getting rid of the current turbo and probably going rotated with a Garrett GTX 3076r. I’m getting a OEM rebuild and a stage 1 IAG short block. I’m just wondering if you might be able to share your knowledge and help me in this build.

What do you mean by pushing coolant into the over flow tank? I sometimes have that issue on my 05 sti, but no overheating.
@Abyss_wrx4 жыл бұрын
Under boost. Air will push past the head gasket into the coolant passages which pushes coolant into the overflow. If it’s bad enough it will overheat and spray coolant everywhere. Happened to my 07. Once it starts it’ll only get worse over time

Ive got a IAG Stage 3 Closed Deck with Billet Crank and built Heads BC280. I am also pushing coolant on ARP 625 head studs. I wanna go to 1/2 Head studs and IAG fire lock rings. Would you recommend ? I was told by IAG to sell the current short block and order the magnum. Going to the 1/2 head studs could warp the cylinders and needing to be bored out and then changing pistons.

Hey Josh!!! Help!!!! my 2012 STi with barely 80k miles on it is pushing coolant to the overflow reservoir, and it is starting to splash everywhere. Reaching to almost the middle pulley! It is on the air pump cover, and even starting to hit the driverside radiator fan. There is NO overheating, NO loss of power, just lots of coolant drippage around the overflow reservoir on the drivers side, in front of the air pump. The car is 100% stock, are my heads lifting or is this a bad radiator cap/thermostat?
@BaderBuiltRacing4 жыл бұрын
If you are pushing coolant into the overflow tank then it is a sure sign of a headgasket failure. You should get it addressed as soon as possible or it will lead to further much worst damage.

With Studs and a small turbo for the block capability, I’m curious as to why he kept blowing headgaskets. Can’t wait to see if the head needs decking or if it really was just to much timing. Staying tuned. Thanks again
@BaderBuiltRacing4 жыл бұрын
Headgaskets show signs of not a flat surface and heads don’t look like they have been decked anytime soon. I’m sure they are warped and causing all his issues. I don’t see this small of a turbo lifting the head on a 1/2” stud engine 😂

Crappy question; Since the HG Turbo kit, etc.. Was pretty much newish, Is the shop responsible for the crappy work, going to be held somewhat accountable? Or would that be considered too personal to discuss? (I know, I know, if I have to ask, guess what? lol) Digressing, great work identifying the culprits and saving yet another GD _BaderBuilt ... PS: Wait.. Closed Deck?? Niceeeee!!!!! Build those HEADS!!!! get a better Turbo, Fuel and you're good to go!!!!

Keeps saying the "vband in and out" is more "efficient"... It's nothing more than convenience... Plenty of efficient T3, T4 and T6 setups out there with twin scroll versions being even more effective...
@BaderBuiltRacing4 жыл бұрын
You're taking what im saying wrong way. T3 open is not efficient. T4 Twinscroll is efficient T4 open is more efficient than T3 lol Vband is latest technology and proven to beat nearly every design out there.
@mushasho4 жыл бұрын
Proven?@@BaderBuiltRacing... Plenty of T3 cars running 8's with ease... Perhaps a vband is "new technology" for you, but it's been used in everything way before we've started modding cars... It's a gasketless design made for ease of use... It's not a performance enhancing mod... Lol... And to be correct, a open scroll T3 flows more than a twin scroll T4... Twin T4 helps in spool and ability to prevent reversion more, but does not provide peak more peak flow (power) than an open T3... This has been tested numerous times... (a/r being equal among the 2)... Its a preference thing not an "efficiency" thing...
