Great video. Elijay seems like a wonderful little town to visit. Thanks for giving us a tour of your “northern” home. PS. We had a 2-month trip planned this year to Slovenia, Italy, Greece, Croatia, and more but obviously had to cancel. We also want to travel the world like you guys, but have decided to hit all the National Parks this year and next until global conditions improve.

I love the footage that you got the hummingbirds! We have hummingbirds that come to our garden and they're usually too quick for us! Don't think I've ever seen that many apples in the one place! Shame that your European adventure got cut short, but hopefully you can get back there in the near future. We were also travelling when the pandemic hit - we decided to wait it out in Nicaragua rather than return to Australia. Looks like it will still be a while before worldwide travel will go back to what it was, but great that you're still exploring closer afield ☺️

Unfortunately, Ellijay is not the capital of Apple Orchards in the USA. Hendersonville, NC has A LOT more apple orchards and U-Picks than Ellijay.

Hi, Looks like a beautiful town. We are actually considering retiring to Ellijay. Do You Guys think Ellijay would be a good place to live in retirement? Are there enough amenities in the area for Seniors? Such as Hospital, Doctors, Grocery Stores, Pharmacies and such? Would love to hear your opinion, Thank You. We can`t wait to visit. 😀
@JohnandCaraRetiredTravellers2 жыл бұрын
Yes it’s a perfect place to retire. There is a small local hospital, as well as a larger hospital in Jasper (30 minutes). Walgreens, Huff Drugs, Walmart etc for pharmacies. Ingels, Food Lion, Super Walmart for groceries, as well as weekend farmers market. We also have a video on some of the delicious restaurants of Ellijay you might enjoy and a video on the sister town Blue Ridge. There are community groups too American Legion, Gilmore Senior center, many churches too. Any other questions please feel free. ~Cara 😊 Appreciate you watching too.

We love it there! I did miss speak, it’s the Apple Capital of Georgia! It was an honest mistake, someone did bring it to my attention in the comments. You stated that Ellijay is the Apple capital of the world. I would think that being the Apple Capital would have to do with the volume of production. The USA produces the world’s second highest amount of apples on an annual basis, and in an article about U.S. Apple production, which includes a list of the top ten Apple producing states, Georgia is not on the list, because Georgia is not a high Apple producing state. Ellijay is not the Apple capital of the U.S., let alone the world. Please check your facts instead of spreading your ignorance. Check out the information referenced above at..... pickyourown.org/USapplecrop.htm. By the way, Washington state is the top Apple producing state, and has been for as long as I’ve been alive.

So sorry to have offended you. My apologies for misspeaking. Ellijay is considered the Apple capital of Georgia. Thank you so very much for correcting me, much appreciated! As I cannot edit the video, but based on your research I will make sure to put a footnote in the description. Again my apologies for offending you it was an honest mistake. ~Cara
