BROM AND MATILDA STAYING MARRIED, LIVING TOGETHER AND RAISING THEIR GHOST CHILD!!!!!

In the midst of everyone appreciating how enthusiastically Brom took to his new role as husband, I just want to point out that he became Verla's dad just as enthusiastically. When Verla appears at the end, Ichabod jumps, but Brom doesn't this time. He's gotten used to her. And "Where were you all night?" is just such a Dad line. I love Brom so much.

I'M SO PROUD OF YOU ALL and so incredibly grateful for the privilege of acting in this incredible production!! It's rare for a show to be so good at making me laugh and making me gasp - and even rarer for an independent web series like this to do what so many network shows can't even accomplish. Everyone involved with this production has worked so hard, and that shines through so brightly in the finished product! This is going to become a Halloween classic in my family without a doubt 🖤

( Major spoiler warning) Got to quickly add another comment- I really admire the detail of Matilda's costuming after Kat's death. She hasn't entirely lost her goth and still wears a dark shirt- but now she also wears vibrant colours (the orange trousers) and a white flower, presumably from Kat's bouquet. I take this to mean that she carries the memory of Kat with her, the memory of Kat as she once was, innocent and perhaps unsullied by the events of the autumn gala. Matilda is no longer completely shrouded by the metaphorical darkness of the guilt of her actions and that is embodied by this change. Furthermore, in this episode Matilda's hair is mostly drawn in front of her face, thus making her appear more diminutive and also shielding her true identity. In the penultimate scene however, her hair is pulled back therefore allowing us as the audience to see her clearly when not in Kat's shadow. Sorry for the rant lol, I just really like English literature

SO happy you noticed the costuming :) It was all on purpose!

Mary Kate Wiles, Mary Kate Wiles. What else can I say but Mary Kate Wiles? **spoilers for the episode under the cut, as well as a ton of appreciation for Mary Kate's acting chops** I knew she had range but oh my god she was great here. I've never seen her go full bad guy but now I want her to play a villain in everything. Going back to rewatch past episodes knowing this has been Kat's end goal reframes everything. The foreshadowing, the immediate acceptance of the horseman being real because she's dead and knows it's possible, the subtle manipulation of Ichabod, injecting how much she misses her mom into every conversation to make herself seem more sympathetic. All of that combined with the roles we've already seen MK play- the impossibly sweet Annabel Lee, irresponsible but loving Lydia, even her role most similar to Kat pre-reveal as the tough, cool-girl with a tragic past Tatiana- they're all good people and part of us, consciously or otherwise, expects Kat to be that way. Even after the reveal that she was dead with all of the terrible things we know her father does, I still strongly believed she was a victim in all of this and had no idea she was dead. It never even crossed my mind that Kat could be a villain until the reveal and the script flips everything you believed about her onto its head. And how perfectly acted is Kat post-reveal? - The nonchalance of "He _has_ been locked in our guest bedroom for the past year." As if the immorality of this doesn't even cross her mind. - The difference in her body language now that she's not putting on a show for Ichabod or the townspeople. - The brief sense that she might just be doing this out of desperation and you can sympathize as she explains that she literally does have to do this to survive, and then that's immediately shut down with the eye roll and deadpan "again." Zero remorse there and I love it. - I get chills as she says "the perfect candidate walked into [her] life" because this was HER CHOICE. This isn't her following her dad blindly or unwillingly, she's not cursed or coerced by anyone. She's systematically assessing everyone she knows to find the best person to drain. - THE EYEROLL RIGHT BEFORE SHE STABS OLDSTYLE OH MY GOODNESS. She doesn't care AT ALL. And the 'well, _duh'_ tone of her voice when she says "no loose ends" is p e r f e c t - The subtle change back to the dreamy, hopeful Kat voice when she says "And you wouldn't want me to die, would you, Ichabod?" before she slips right back into her lower evil voice. Mary Kate, you're incredible. - The _poison_ in her voice (pun intended) when Kat tells Ichabod to get on the alter - And then right after that, the little bit of vulnerability peeking through. The fear slowly reaches Kat's face while she tries to keep control of the situation and asks Matlida why she's waiting. Even more fear in her demand to start the spell. It's so perfectly acted - And that last, final scream. Chilling. Conclusion: Someone, somewhere, give Mary Kate an award for this role. Kat had me fooled all along and Mary Kate nailed her dark side here. Headless was fantastic and everyone involved should be very proud.
@lyrtilseiya2 жыл бұрын
Exactly! You worded this better than I ever could. It never even crossed my mind that Kat was shady. Headless uses tropes and even reused troped from other series we saw these actors in (Edgar Allan Poe's Murder Mystery Party in particular), so of course Sean = the awkward MC, Sinead = the snarky sidekick, MK = the MC's love interest who's also a victim. I'm really impressed with how the Persauds flipped these assigned roles going against us viewers' expectations.

Soooo... How much did Diedrich know in the beginning of the story, about Kat and all? How omniscient is he as a bard? I love his involvement in the story and this strange inbetween state he occupies between omniscient narrator and being one of the characters. I love that the characters actually hear his songs and not just the audience. He still reminds me of Allan-a-Dale in the 1970s animated Robin Hood movie. The lute playing rooster bard. He has always been one of my favorite characters. So is Diedrich in Headless. Compliments to Jon Cozart, delivering a perfect performance. All the cast is incredible really... I'll stop ranting here. Might have to write another rewatch-comment for that.

Watching the first episode I assumed that the bard was a ghost or a figment of Ichabods imagination, but when other characters interacted with him I was a little disapointed that he was a real person. Another comment months later, because I keep thinking about how I neglected to mention yet another editing detail I didn't comment on before (though there are obviously SO MANY GREAT DETAILS, GEEZ). But I just love how the recap at the beginning of the episode begins with a moment of quiet. The recap could have unceremoniously jumped straight into it--but instead, it paused. And I remember when I watched this for the first time, that pause, that inhale, signaled to me, "Take a deep breath. Hang on. Take a moment to collect yourself. Things are about to get crazy in here. But let's give one last goodbye to how the world used to be so simple--...and now, let's begin." Just. Wonderful choice. Thank you again.

Rewatching episode 1 after the reveals this episode, the subtle hints and references were so well-placed (e.g. The wind flowing during Kat's first appearance, Kat's suspicious nature and eyebrow race when saying that the last science teacher disappeared under mysterious circumstances, Kat "disappearing" after talking to Ichabod mimicking tropes for ghosts, Kat warning Ichabod of poison after the wine color change, and Brom supposedly knowing every haunted story in the town).

Another comment a couple days later, because I want to give a shoutout to these lines, which have been on-and-off haunting me for days because of just how SUPERBLY the actors delivered them, oh MAN: Ichabod: "Kat, whatever this is, you don't have to do it." Kat: "Thank you, Ichabod." and "What an odd bedtime story to request." Diedrich: "Matilda felt guilty, but this was her friend. And a life without her was too bleak to comprehend." Matilda: "She was my best friend, and I thought I could save her without hurting anyone else." and "...I know." Also wanted to note, that Ichabod names his new bike (bought with a Devlyn coupon!) Gunpowder brought me such an unexpected amount of joy. =D
