Hey buddy how's it going hope all is well. And yeah buddy they can ask all the questions they like I just told them to please keep it clean because I'm making a KZbin video. You probably don't have to use a buffer but it would make it a lot easier on your arm muscles and hand muscles. For me I like to use the drill bit with the buffer attachment because I could keep the same RPM rhythm going and I have a backup battery just in case if the current battery loses power. And as always if you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask I am glad to help. 🚙😉👍

So I'm assuming you did not finish the whole video I did do the fog lights I put them in the slideshow at the end of the video. I did not want to show it live in the video I don't want to take up too much of people's time, if you make the videos too long people skip through it and won't get all the information so I try to make it as detailed but time appropriate as possible. But thank you once again I really appreciate your support and stay tuned more videos to come have a great weekend.👍🏻🏁

Hi Greg, I did this and the results weren't perfect, but my expectations for headlamps that are 15 years old were not perfect either. I did finish with a clear coat spray protectant from Meguiars which should be good for about three-six months. Thank you for the video!
@gregbenitez
@gregbenitez 3 жыл бұрын
Good evening sir and thank you for taking out the video. Sorry that the results weren't perfect, but like you said fifteen year-old headlights would definitely be harder to clean up. Now that you scrubbed off those 15 years maybe if you do it again after the six months once the clear coat wears down a little bit they should get a little bit brighter than the first time. It's crazy how these manufacturers are building all these vehicles with plastic lenses but that's what we have to deal with as customers. Thanks again for watching stay safe stay blessed and see you on the next one🏁👍🚙

Hey buddy how's it going and thank you so much for checking out the video I really appreciate you. As for sealant products there are tons like McGuire's, 3m, Blue magic, Turtle wax, Rain-X and the list goes on and on I haven't done a sealant because the mother's polish gives a nice shiny look to it and I do the lenses every year for our state inspections here where I live, it keeps them nice and clean the remaining 11 and 1/2 months. So other than that it would not hurt them it will definitely prolong it just follow the instructions and for what I've read online people just say take your time. I am glad I saw this video because I was going to use the Heavy Duty Meguiar's kit today which involves sanding then buffing. My head light is not that bad but one is new and the other is the original so there is a noticeable slight difference. Were you using the drill on the lowest speed? It has been some time now can you post a picture of the head lights? how long did it last? THANKS ! Greg.

@@gregbenitez hopefully your day was blessed also. Thanks. So I tried this today after running around looking for a similar foam polishing pad. I ended up using the wool buffing pad that comes with the Mequiar's heavy duty kit and I wasn't impressed with the performance at all. It seems like I have a different situation than most because my cadillac SRX has some kind of protective film on the lights which I can see is starting peal off from the top. So after just using Mother's I didn't see much of a change. Then I used the Meguir's kit according to instructions there was noticeably an improvement. But when I as per directions cleaned the light with glass cleaner after polishing things looked bad. I am not sure why they would say use glass cleaner after polishing. Worse than that I noticed the damage on the inside of the light which we all know can't be fixed. Thanks again Greg, and I'll have to search for the cheapest head and fog light I can find.

@@mrdcjsr.5683 hey buddy how's it going home your day gets better sorry that it didn't work out normally the oxidation is on the outside of the lens. My neighbor has Acura TL and the dealership put this clear vinyl wrap on his headlights then they turn brown over time he spent over $200 to get that cover removed so that definitely isn't a good idea. I'll send you the link from Amazon or the 3M headlight kit that comes with the buffer and multiples sanding pads Compares to what Meguiars kit offers. I was a autobody tech for 50+ years I have polished many headlamps. and sanded an painted them. I will say that that polish you are using works better than any i have used. I tried the best that they make for paint 3m maguires safety cleen ,never thought to use mag wheel polish. Ok, with that said. you did great there , now i know it won't last that is why i started painting them. You have really got something there with just 1 more step scuff and shoot . that really cleans off the oxidation witch is the hard part of the process. Sanding dosn't really clean it all off then paint over it can cause a problem. As for paint spray can paint is a joke and always has been a quality topcoat clear from ppg or axalta speas.will give the U.V. protection needed. plus the hardner mixed in. will last longer than the original finish put on them. the spray can clears will not do the job like the better products. but as far as cleaning up for get ready to spray your system is very good and will work just dull it out with a fine scuff pad mask and shoot quality clear on then you really got something.

Greg! Great video. I'm about to go outside and do my kid's car (I'm trying to get her to do it herself, and I'll supervise, or hold her drink). Yours was the first video that followed up with updates in the comments on how long it lasts. I saw this one video where the guy, who actually sanded his using few different grits of sandpaper ( and who has a garage and must do all kinds of detailing) finished with putting some 3M film on it, and it lasted over a year and a half, so far when he shot the video. That makes sense to me. Maybe if you video your next headlight, you may want to try that. Again, great video. I have to stop at the store to see if they carry the film. Thanks again for the video.

Hey Franco how's it going buddy hope all is well. Thank you so much for checking out the video I hoped it helped out it's very easy to do with the proper drill and the 3M buffing pad attachment. This is about six months normally depending on where you live and weather conditions, and yes with the clear vinyl wrap on the headlights would definitely make it last a little bit longer the only concern I have is when it's time to peel it off would it cause future harm. My neighbor with the Acura TL not sure if you can see it on the video but when he purchase his car he got that clear wrap put on and overtime it deteriorated away then had to spend almost $200 to get it removed and Polished again. So for $6 every 6 months it's definitely in my budget LOL. Once again thank you for checking out my video I really really appreciate you I hope your daughter's vehicle came out fantastic stay blessed see you on the next one. 😁👍🏁🚙

Apply the polish, buff until your neighbors stop bugging you. lol. Got it. I tried it without the buffer and it didn't work. I couldn't create enough heat (from the friction) and application of the abrasives in the polish by doing this by hand. You need a buffer -- or at the very least the drill attachments..

Hey buddy thanks for checking out the video we really appreciate you, well this vehicle has over 165,000 miles so there's plenty of road grind and scratches from interstate highway driving, depending on your vehicle manufacturer the lens will show signs of stress cracks over time, being that your lenses were probably dirty now that they're cleaned you're noticing the scratches. The Crusty layer on the lens is pretty thick so it hides all kinds of things until you clean them. But depending on where you park your vehicle and if you do a lot of driving the sun and the little grits in the ground on the asphalt will cause scratches and slight hairline cracks in the plastic lenses. Hey buddy how's it going and thank you for checking out the video... correct NO Sanding. Since this video was made, I redid it again for my wife rav4 on Valentines day. So it depends on where you live and weather patterns. But from what I've seen a good 6 plus months, but its so easy to do that its fun to do.👍 Any questions please don't hesitate to ask 🚙🏁👍😁

Greg Benitez thanks for making the video man. My Range Sport headlights are a lil faded on the top and didn’t want to replace them, Joints ain’t cheap. I was looking for cheap alternatives and found your video. live in Boston MA where we get all nasty weathers and it ruins headlights. Keep making them videos they are real. 👍

Yeah buddy the little tub of the mother's polish is about $6 at your local part store and the buffer pad is from the 3M headlight kit that I had, but Amazon sells it as well. When you get it done can you please let me know how they turned out I would like to know. Once again thank you and as always any questions please don't hesitate to ask im always here to help. Great video! How long did it last before it got hazy again?
@gregbenitez
@gregbenitez 3 жыл бұрын
Hello Anthony and how are you and thank you so much for checking out the video I really appreciate you. Well it depends on where you live, and where do you park your vehicle for the longest time of day, it depends on your environment, depends on the weather. But where I live its always full sun where we park our vehicles we don't keep them in the garage so approximately 6 months or more it will last before you start seeing the haze. And even with the haze coming back it's not as bad as it was the very first time, so if you need to you don't have to do it right away you can let it prolong a little bit longer so it maybe once a year before state inspection if you have that where you live. Doing this process is extremely quick and actually fun to do. So to make a long story short six months or a year then you can do it on your spare time on the weekend. Any other questions please don't hesitate to ask I am always glad to help out. Thank you so much once again for checking out the video and see you on the next one👍🏁🚙

All you need to do after, is put a coating of some kind on the headlights to protect them. A coat of car wax has worked on mine.

303 Protectant from the auto parts store is the best way I know of. It’s a good UV blocker (that’s what causes the yellowing) and lasts a long time.

do you need a buffer or can you do this by hand?
@gregbenitez
@gregbenitez 3 жыл бұрын
Hey how's it going and thank you so much for checking out the video. It would be a lot easier if you had a small type of buffer. But Meguiar's car headlight kit has a hand-held pad that you can use. It does work but I do recommend ordering a small buffer kit from Amazon or your local auto parts store it would be a lot easier for you on the long run. Let me check my Amazon list I will put the link in the next conversation so you can check it out.. and thank you once again for checking out the video I appreciate your support👍🚙🏁

So here is a very good buffing pad that will do the job. Each color means a specific amount of pressure on the sponge the kit that I have from 3M is the orange one. @@gregbenitez hey man, got it done, worked great! Didn't even tape it off just did it by hand. It's a 1997, the truck in my profile pic. Went from yellow and cloudy to clear. We'll see how long it holds up. Took maybe 10 minutes! If I was to sand them down I think it would be a little better but since I plan to upgrade to some more modern assemblies and LED bulbs in the future, it's a good solution for now. The wheels didn't come out as good. They seem to have been neglected their entire life and so they need to be sanded and hit with a buffer and polishing rouge. Too much scale and rock damage. I go offroad often so it's not worth that too me. But they definitely look brighter and have more shine.

@@raze4789 hey buddy that's what's up glad everything worked out good enough to get by until you upgraded headlight assembly. At least for now you will be able to see a lot better at night time driving.. if you keep working the Polish into the rims eventually it will get clean little bit of light sanding to get the heavy residue off like you said should work. Nowadays wheel packages are pretty cheap... Glad everything is good once again thank you for checking it out and letting me know please don't hesitate to ask any questions. 🏁👍🏁👍🏁👍🏁

Do you think a headlight film/wrap would keep it good for years after the polish?
@gregbenitez
@gregbenitez 4 жыл бұрын
Hey buddy how's it going hope all is well. My old neighbor has an Acura TL and the dealership put the clear wrap film over the headlights it's lasted couple years but then it started to break down over time. Not too long ago he spent a lot of money at the dealership removing the film wrap then rebuffing the headlights As best as they could. So it's totally up to you. So it's possible and depending on where you live they might last forever but nothing is a promise. Any other questions please don't hesitate to ask im always here to help.
