Question for anyone who may know the answer. Why is it that some people try to hold the car while doing the burnout? What advantage does it have if any? Or is it to just be close to such a beautiful beast and feel it's power?

It has 0 advantage. In the industry we call those guys burnout buddies. They either set the suspension up so wonky it can't do a straight burnout or they have a death wish and wanna fly like a rag doll if something goes sideways.
