Hi Ashley, I had a question. The headworn mic you used, has a 3.5mm TS jack which is mono. When you connected it with RODE wireless transmitter, did it recorded only MONO (only left or right) or STEREO (left + right) sound ?

Got my headset in the mail yesterday and taught with it today. Love the sound quality but I don't live the wire that goes down my shirt. I think this will be my winter alternative for when I'm wearing layers of clothes. The Rode mic will be my go-to for warmer months when I am dressed more lightly with less chance of material rubbing against the mic causing that annoying rustling sound. Thanks for the recommendation Ashley!
@AshleyHagen3 жыл бұрын
Yes, my thoughts exactly. I like just using the Rode mic itself when I can. If I have clothing that isn't happy (like some halter tops that go up to my neck) then I will use the headset.
@yogawithyordanka3 жыл бұрын
Both is good, with or without headset. Maybe with the headset is a little bit quieter but is also very clear. I am using a headset microphone already a couple of months and I am so used to it, I don’t event notice it. Although in some postures is not very stable, like wheel or reversed table top pose.
@AshleyHagen3 жыл бұрын
I agree. I prefer just using the Rode without the headset because the headset tangles in my hair, but it’s good to have options! Right now I’m just teaching and early morning 30 min class and I want the set up as quick and easy as possible. Other classes, I may bring out the headset. I had my mic on the lowest of 3 settings for this comparison. I’d probably turn it up with the headset.

Hi, the ply ear microphone is unavailable on amazon. Can you recommend an alternative?
@lhd71052 жыл бұрын
If you don't mind me sharing, if you ever need to listen to your PC (or broadcasting station, that's doing the streaming)--meaning we want wireless audio--but in the other direction, What I did was: - use a classic corded ear bud, any of your favorite old ear-buds is fine (like the pillow-friendly Final E200OC or sound-isolating champ Etymotics ER2SE) - FiiO BTR3K or FiiO BTR5 2021-edition (make sure they are charged to the max, they provide any where from 4 hours to 6 hours transmission time) - You might be able to make a direct BT connection to your PC, but for gaming (requiring Low Latency BT) try one of those UGreen dongles that plugs into the optical audio out jack of your TV/computer display. It works pretty darn well! And you basically hook it up exactly as you have done with the Rode Go! :) This is a way for you (or your assistant) to monitor your audio recording, make sure it's on, sounding okay, not too loud, not too muted, etc--allow you to determine if the audio feed going into OBS Broadcasting is doing okay. Another reality check possible is have your assistant log into your twitch live broadcast from their phone and monitor that way.

Thanks Ashley, I've been wondering if I should get one of these due to the kwhkwhkhw sounds of my shirt with the RODE. :) The cheek mic does mask out the room reverb and environmental sounds, but seems to pick up inner mouth/tongue sounds and the breath. Hmmmn... not sure yet, so will stick with wee RODEy for now. xo
@AshleyHagen3 жыл бұрын
I will stick with just the rode mic, too. I prefer just clipping it to me. Easier set up. But having options is nice and this was so inexpensive so I had to try it. I’ve been mindful about avoiding the kwhwkwhkw sounds for almost a year now with no major issues. 🤣😊

Yes.... and beware of feedback. The Pyle is omni-directional so it will pickup lots of the room sound -- including the output of the speakers.

that mic seems to serve your particular purpose but it really doesn't sound very good to me. It just sounds a bit overblown. I feel it would likely help to pull it farther from your mouth. The idea is to get a consistent distance not affected by head movement.

May I ask, how much battery life typical on the RODE Go? And is the battery swappable? Meaning, can someone take extra batteries, charge them at a charging station, for extended sessions? Thank you so much for the presentation! It's succinct and very clear ^___^
@AshleyHagen2 жыл бұрын
No, it's not a battery you can take out. You charge both pieces with a USB-c cable. I'd say you get at least 2.5 to 3 hours at very minimum. The Rode Wireless Go II has a longer battery life I've noticed. More like 5 hours. Charge it in between uses if you want to be sure you have battery life.

I find that my breathing is emphasised with the headset but the sound is way more consistent - I wonder if that frequency setting might help that. It does blow everything out!

Turn the volume down. On the Rode Wireless Go, there are 3 volume settings. Set it to the lowest. If you are ujjayi breathing (loudly), yes it’ll get picked up. I often try not to breathe as I would if I were a student, unless I’m emphasizing the breath.

Hi. Based on your enthusiastic review, I bought a pair from Amazon. I was so sorely disappointed. This mic design is substandard. The headband might fit a small sized person but not more. The headband doesn't hold on to your head. You put a positive spin on that fact by saying "Oh I need to put on a headband". Yup, without the headband pressing the thing would fall right off. Cheaply made construction. On the positive note the mic pickup was OK with my Rode wireless. But you have to diddle around a long time to get it away from you mouth and into a position where it would stay without picking up pops and puffs. Also, the phone wind screen requires midget hands or tweezers to get on without ripping. Returned for a full refund. (This is the 2nd time I followed your advice for tech stuff and wound up dissatisfied Please stick to Yoga teaching and stay away from product reviews). No more Brand X stuff for me
@AshleyHagen2 жыл бұрын
Sorry to hear your disappointment. I don’t currently do brand deals or post these videos for profit. I share them because I get questions about these kinds of products. If you don’t like the product, these kinds of comments are great for others watching. Good or bad, it’s good to see, and doesn’t make a difference to me. This is a cheap $15 headset. At least it was when I bought it. For the price, I do think it does its job just fine. And despite your request that I stop posting videos like this about equipment I’m trying out, I will not. I enjoy talking about tech and equipment from my perspective. Feel free to unsubscribe or unfollow.
