Perfect boat for the trip. I would have done support for you around St. Louis if I had known about your trip.

Thanks! Hard to beat an Old Town. We had some help from the crew at Big Muddy Adventures when we landed in St. Louis. The city was good to us! The Cahokia mounds were one of the highlights of our trip.

I just started watching your video. From what point on the river in Northern Minnesota did you have the longest stretch of water without portaging ? I am building a solar electric canoe that will contain heavy batteries for a trip with the wife down the Mississippi
@PepandJambo

You could complete the entire river (with minimal "planned" portages) starting south of Minneapolis. Another thing to keep in mind are the "Chain of Rocks" in St. Louis. Some people go through them (risky but doable), some take the canal (you're going to be hanging out with a bunch of massive barges for quite a stretch), or you could try and find a river angel to shuttle you around... However, be cognisant that there are some long portages in the northern section of the river; Blanchard damn, Grand Rapids and Minneapolis all come to mind. Hope this was helpful - let us know if you have any more questions! So, you’re paddling, that means lots of water… pls explain why you’re worried about carrying water. Didn’t you guys have a water filter? Thx great video.
@PepandJambo
@PepandJambo 11 ай бұрын
Hey, great question! A water filter would have been a good idea. We carried water treating tablets instead (not mentioned in any videos I think).
@Oxnate

@ellenely1169 Up where this video was taken, a water filter is possible to use. Once you get past St Cloud, the water has industrial waste, meaning you wouldn't want to drink it even after putting it through any water filter you can carry.
