Very nice illustration again thank you for the video, is oil for transfer and differential the same? How many kilometers should you run the car for the next change of these oil?
@Ahto423 жыл бұрын
Yes the oil is the same, you need to buy just 1L if not spilling much. It is recommended to change them in 30-50k kilometers when pulling a trailer a lot, or doing alot offroading. Otherwise the service manual says no need to change.

The transfer and differential oil are the same GL-5 80W90. Both exchange propulsion distances are not provided. It depends on the excessive driving, but I think that it is okay to replace it once every 50,000 km.
Another great video thank you, how is the diesel heater going in the car? I purchased one for my little caravan after watching you video and it working well although a bit noisy, did you manage to quite down the ticking of the dose pump by hanging it or something?
@HeadwayDrive3 жыл бұрын
Diesel heaters are used in various situations such as winter camping, traveling, and berthing after mountain climbing. I'm sure there are many people who are worried about the ticking of the fuel pump. I don't care so much, so it's just as it is. I think that the sound will be reduced if the pump is wrapped in a sound insulation mat, but I have not tried it. I will study it as a future subject.

After driving for a while, the oil temperature will rise to around 40℃. After stopping, shift into each gear for about 5 seconds. Loosen the 14mm socket and loosen the drain bolt. There is a level tube inside, so loosen it with a hex wrench and remove it. Be careful as the oil will come out all at once. When oil stops coming out, tighten the level tube. Inject the same amount of ATF as was drained from the drain bolt. The level tube is a tube that automatically adjusts the amount of ATF fluid. Liquid filled to the top of the pipe will be automatically drained. So after injecting, wait until it stops dripping. This is the basic process, but it may take some time.

Hi, I own same spec xtrail as yours. Recently did tranny and diff oil change too. But I filled it with recommended 75w90 oil as I found in service manual. Why did you use 80w90 instead?
@Ahto423 жыл бұрын
in the transmission goes GL4 usually 75w90, transfer and diff GL5 usually 80w90. does not really matter, 75w flows just a bit better at extreme cold. As long as you have the GL4 and GL5 right. GL5 eats bronze syncros.
@HeadwayDrive3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your very interesting comment. The service manual in Japan promotes the use of GL-5 80W90. I think that the viscosity of oil is different because the average temperature differs depending on the country and the optimum oil is used depending on the frequency of use of the car.
Remove the fill plug FIRST ALWAYS. This way you know you can refill the oil before you drain it. Otherwise, you could end up not being able to fill it if you have a problem getting the filler plug out. This leaves you with a car you can still drive. If you drain the fluid but can't get the oil back in then you may have to get a tow to a mechanic.

Certainly it was safer to do so. It was a place where I was overconfident in my work ability. Thank you
